Observing the Cosmos and Small-Scale Tech

Hey everyone,

I’ve been thinking lately about how the big energy systems we often discuss, like solar panels or wind turbines, can sometimes be reflected on a smaller scale. I recently got a MOVA Globe, which spins all on its own, powered just by ambient light and Earth’s magnetic field. No wires, no batteries, just natural energy. It’s kind of like a mini version of how we harness renewable energy in the real world.

Last night, I was out watching the stars (hoping to catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights, but no luck here), and it made me think about how similar principles are used in both large and small-scale technologies. It’s a cool reminder of the power we can tap into from natural forces.

Has anyone else come across interesting gadgets or tech that use natural energy like this? Would love to hear about any unique finds, especially if they tie into astronomy or renewable energy.

Welcome to the forum.

That MOVA globe is pretty neat, I like it. The only other device that comes to mind is the Crookes radiometer.
