Pylontech Batteries

Bought 3 of these.

I've been caught a bit off guard as they came early. Last night they had 108 in stock and now it's down to 45 so you can't hang around. I need to concrete the floor in the room they are going in. I will need a bus bar I think, as each stack needs 2 power cables not the one, or perhaps I could do it with a pair of Henley blocks for each stack.

In case anyone is interested, I went ahead and switched to the Pylontech units.

Been running nearly a month now, and am generally impressed. Very much a 'plug and play' solution. Only slight issue seems to be when they reach absorption level, some of the units give an over voltage alarm. Have read this is fairly common at first due to cell imbalance, and it will (hopefully) correct itself in time.

Excellent photo, looks great. Did you autobalance for a few hours on install?

To do this leave the post &neg incoming leads off but all interconnects hooked up. Power up the stack, press the master unit red button so it goes thru it's light seq self test and it will begin to balance the stack. I was operational for well over a year before I realised this!

Glad to help, it's quite cool watching the stack shift power about within itself and communicating to you via the green lights. Remember to shutdown everything incl the battery rocker switches before dissconnection/reconnection.

+1 for balancing the stack.

There is a video on YouTube showing you how but it is really easy, power off all the batteries, disconnect all the coms leads, Disconnect the pack from supply/load, power on the batteries and let the current flow from the higher charge units to the lower charge units. Might take some time because the current levels are teeny. Reconnect and off you go.

I really like the pylontech batteries. They just do their job without any fuss.

It shows 28.4V. I believe this is controlled by the BMS, as I do not seem able to adjust it via the ColorControlGX.


@Joeboy, @Stinsy, Tried the balancing overnight, and so far, it looks promising. Currently sat on absorption for a couple of hours and reached 93% with no alarms - best I've seen yet.

That's great. Try it again once you top out. You'll see if the power is still moving about in the stack by the lights and then going out when balanced. I think I did it 3 times. I'm also thinking my V tops out at 52.4V on this 48V system so that 28.4V isn't right... I don't think. Don't quote me on the 52.4V though. I'd have to check but I'm a couple of hundred miles away for next few days.

Also, your in/out leads are in the wrong place. You want your pos lead at the top on batt 1 and your neg lead on the bottom battery 6. Been there, done that! Battery 3 & 4 are doing all the hard work with battery 1,2,5&6 on a 1/2 holiday.
