New PV installation
New PV installation
Hello all,
I've always wanted a PV install and now I've got one! Loving it so far.
16 X 400W jinko all black panels and a 3.6K lux power hybrid inverter with 9.6kwh of pylon tech batteries. I was very surprised at how simple this arrangement is.
So far it's covering almost all my energy use, generated about 28kWh yesterday!

Re: New PV installation
Its no rocket science !
And just wait till May, boom !
EDIT - And you've probably got the best bang for buck system with no DNO issues.

Re: New PV installation
Yeah just wanted to get going as soon as possible - I am now looking for a solar diverter that will know when the battery is full so I can dump any remaining excess into hot water tank rather than grid.
I would of considered a DIY install but the roof is 3 stories up and I am very thankful I did not attempt that.
I get about 200W even when totally overcast - it seems like magic!

Re: New PV installation
Welcome Swwils. PV really is the most amazing invention ever. It just works and it goes on working year after year. I have not noticed any degradation after a decade.Swwils wrote: ↑Sat Feb 26, 2022 7:31 pm Yeah just wanted to get going as soon as possible - I am now looking for a solar diverter that will know when the battery is full so I can dump any remaining excess into hot water tank rather than grid.

Re: New PV installation
We had a thread about that only a couple of weeks back.

With your size of PV and capped inverter, a diverter makes sense. Probably the Solic 200 is the cheapest which you can configure a min export to work in harmony with your battery system.
I have two immersuns, pricey but you can hook up several units for that little bit of extra diversion.
Welcome by the way !, and a photo of said system would be nice.

Usually not too much to expect from the PV from end of Nov- Feb
But sure that is a decent PV array and my preach that even in winter there is some harvest
Re: New PV installation
If you are handy with a soldering iron you could build one of these https://mk2pvrouter.co.uk/shop.html.
I built one a few years ago and it has worked faultlessly since then.

Re: New PV installation
Nice I will take a look at those links, that design doesn't look problematic at all.
Here is a pic of the installation, 40 degree pitch totally unshaded and due south.
I am now trying to get my outgoing properly setup, the current rates are very attractive on outgoing octopus agile.

Re: New PV installation
You've got us foaming at the mouth, nice install, there were not many all black panels back in the day, but we got the full FITs !
And strangely enough the FIT meter reader came round today for their bi-annual visit. I say bi-annual, but as I have two FIT system's and two generation meters, they come roughly once a year to read each separate one, not both together.
And they always say the same line to me, Oh, I've never seen two generation meters at a domestic house before.
