Power-cut Notifications, ..has it begun already?

I'm not sure, but I definitely get Northern Powergrid text messages relating to the village that my rental is in. I don't get any for where I live.

I also get them for a rented out property and my own from NPG and have done for a few years. The problem is I never know where it's for as our home supply could be off and I wouldn't have a clue it was. They should put the location on the texts.

I think i did sign up for them but not sure how you deregister.

Reminds me about the school a friend's children go to. A few days before term started the school sent out a text message saying "Just to inform you PE will be on Tuesday for the new term, please ensure your child arrives dressed in PE kit and has their uniform with them to get changed in to".

The problem is they didn't say which group this message was aimed at. And many parents have several children at the school in different years so the parent received several almost-identical messages with different days mentioned!
