Remarkably light traffic commuting into work today though so definitely lots of people have stayed at home!

Wondering if we'll get an Octopus saving session, although I heard that many of the wind turbines in the south have been curtailed or switched off completely to protect against the very high wind speeds.
Was pretty windy down this way, but were on the coast its nothing new. I presume Rampion wind farm is running, certainly stuff around the country is kicking out some power.

40% wind isnt great given the wind around the country. Shame the rest is coming from interconnects from Europe and just under 22% from gas then nukes/biomass

ok I went and had a look

https://www.thecrownestate.co.uk/en-gb/ ... asset-map/

Rampion currently at 56% of nameplate, generating 225MW, local wind speed reported between 45-50mph
Thanet Offshore - 3% of nameplate so 9MW.

However, London Array running at 99% capacity so 622MW!

Nice, good find.. If you were to land on the Crown Estates home page, it doesnt really jump out at you where to find it, I would have thought that would have been pretty prominent.

Interesting that, I felt sure the additional Rampion farm was going to be situated off to the west of the current setup.

Seems its East.

Working rather nicely today too

still voting for option C where the storm moves to the North of the UK land mass and misses us all entirely - in the mean time we are beginning to move things in to sheltered areas and ballast other equipment / boats and canoe's etc.

got to clear out a shed space for the 4 new panels to get them indoors from their temporary storage area which is too exposed. Got the framing plan done for the unistrut tho so they are a step closer to their final setting at least.

Maybe I should follow Ivans plans and get a turnip sooner rather than later  seem to have more wind than sun lately

Yes if i dont get them properly under cover I can rope them off to things like telegraph poles and gabions etc but if I can I will get them in doors just to eliminate damage from flying debris etc.

typically at the moment they are forecasting 70 to 90's for us and a mix of south east swinging to south west. the south easterlies should be ok as the hill behind us will loft the gusts but the south westerlies will be straight in off the irish sea (emulating Mr Trumps plans possible soon to become the gulf of Wales  ) Everything else should be ok :xx:

We have a rather old tin shed around the back that is getting creakier every time theres a storm - but I dont mind if that gets scrapped as we can have another concrete bunker built there and another 1600p to 2kWp - not a perfect space but good for early spring summer and autumn sun so worthwhile at the current Wp costs. Just got to wait and see what Eowyn does :pot-stir: mindful of that old phrase of being careful what you wish for.
