The FM receiver failed in our Onkyo all in one unit.
Bought a dab+ Internet radio unit and hooker it in. Absolutely excellent bit of kit. Now into 21st century radio!
Speakers are used Bang & Olufsen from my birth year(1969).
A nice sound and great to keep the old gear running.

Re: Internet radio
I’ve got that exact same unit / enjoy!
Radio Swiss Jazz is a good channel to find on the internet radio side of things.
The other kit is
Oppo BDP-83SE CD/SACD/DVD-A/Blu Ray player
2x Musical Fidelity X Amps (bi-amp mode)
PMC FB1 speakers (bi-wired)
A bit overkill in my current flat as can’t really turn up the volume past 1 for fear of upsetting the neighbours!

Very nice set up. I'm sure I recognise the Amps from what hi fi back in the day? I'll have a listen to Swiss Jazz when we get back.dan_b wrote: ↑Sun Sep 22, 2024 9:49 am I’ve got that exact same unit / enjoy!

I absolutely adore classical music. Gives life an extra zing!
Dan, did you play about with single amp/bi amp testing. Wondering what your real world take has been?

Re: Internet radio
Different set up to you guys, but I believe bi-wiring is superior.
Did some side by side testing (nothing objective, just listening in the hi-fi shop) when we bought the kit about 30 years ago ( ).
If you’ve gout the option and you can run the wires, I’d say do it.
I’m not a hi-fi buff, just like listening to music in the best way I can - I appreciate it’s really subjective.

Re: Internet radio
Yeah I first experimented with bi-wiring years and years ago - back then had an Arcam Alpha 9 amp and a pair of TDL speakers which had bi-wire connections. Then i got a 2nd Arcam Amp and bi-amped them and never looked back! To me it always felt like there was a lifting of a veil in the sound - particularly in the vocals part of the frequency range. Later I replaced the TDLs with the PMCs (more bass, more detail!) and then replaced the Arcams with the Musical Fidelity X-amps as wanted something a bit less laid back. Still running that combo 15 years later.

Re: Internet radio
Great to hear (get it)? I may pursue some bi amperry down the road. I used to be able to walk into a space and ID B&O playing by the timbre of the sound. I've always imagined biamp to be akin to a 80% dark chocolate in comparison to a bar of dairy milk.dan_b wrote: ↑Mon Sep 23, 2024 9:26 am Yeah I first experimented with bi-wiring years and years ago - back then had an Arcam Alpha 9 amp and a pair of TDL speakers which had bi-wire connections. Re: Internet radio
Here is my DIY Internet Radio + digital media player :-
It's a Raspberry Pi Zero 2W, running PiCorePlayer.
The Zero board (behind) is connected to a HiFiBerry AMP 2 ( digital-to-analogue converter + amplifier ).
It's not really very high fidelity, but good enough for me . . . bearing in mind that the Solar PV Inverter (loft) swamps the VHF signal with interference almost everywhere downstairs.
It is controlled by the "Material Skin" App on my phone or via a web interface on my desktop PC.
