Apologies admin, (Galahad) feel free to relocate thread elsewhere, ..it didn't seem to have a cubby hole that fit.
I experienced a bloated battery pack today which had been removed from a piece of electronics by the wife & replaced as it was in her "lunchbox" of pry tools & watch back removers (type thing)
Clearly it had got moved around without being checked for a long time & had fallen down near a radiator out of sight.
Swollen to heck (politely put)
currently sitting in some paper towel, wrapped in aluminium casings, on the floor of the shower cubicle to be dealt with (no biscuit tins available, well not an empty one)
Will be having words later.
In the meantime it got me thinking / looking at what has become available (no idea of cost) ..maybe some of you with big banks already have smother sheets to limit problems whilst you work around them, or have invested in extinguishers?
So, no idea of how effective, but..

(might be time to invest in a bag of vermiculite) ?
