Re: Extending life of stuff
But you know if you hadn't of posted your fix, mine would still have been there in the new year.
Who would think women's shoe repairing was so technical.
Some of the epoxy has dripped out and I have a small gap to fill so I'm mixing another batch and will apply once its firmed up a bit.
Have a bit of other good news, my pressure washer has defrosted and has come back to life. A good old wash of my subterranean heat exchanger has increased the return temp to my heatpump by 1 degree.
Also the sun has returned a bit here keeping the (gas) wolf from the door.

Re: Extending life of stuff
Mmmmn, women's shoes..... Sorry! SWMBO set are done, decent quality this wee kit. Also had a void fill or two on the edge. Lacking black sikaflex there was luckily a little left in the gluetube. I'll see what the boss says when she gets back but I think we're good. Black out blinds cut and ready to go too! Nicely played on the +1 on the stream return temp!nowty wrote: ↑Wed Dec 14, 2022 1:34 pmBut you know if you hadn't of posted your fix, mine would still have been there in the new year.

Re: Extending life of stuff
Did you use a heat gun to warm the soles for initial pliability?

Didn't do that Gus as they were flexible and seem to have retained it too. Just gave the old soles and new one's a good rough up to aid bonding.

This & many other neglected skills covered in those thick readers digest "How to fix just about anything" DIY books, even if its 50p & from the 70's & 80's holds a mine of good info, ditto the "Collins" version

Re: Extending life of stuff
I gave my 80's Collin's diy book to our daughters boyfriend. He thinks it great!
Last one of the boots, they are on for a 24hr cure under weights again and we'll be good to go. SWMBO'S fave's. No pressure!

Re: Extending life of stuff
SWMBO is very happy , but complained about the shine from the glue so I will have to find some fine sandpaper to rough it up a bit.
She sends her thanks to Joeboy for bumping it up my 'To Do' list.
