The received wisdom is that any repair, done by Apple or anyone else, negates the waterproofing.

To be honest Apple products tend to be long-lived these days. The MBP I'm typing this on is 12 years old, my iPhone is 5 years old. There was a time when batteries would last 12-18 months but we seem to be past that now.

(Probably going to buy a new laptop this year...)
12x 340W JA Solar panels (4.08kWp)
3x 380W JA Solar panels (1.14kWp)
5x 2.4kWh Pylontech batteries (12kWh)
LuxPower inverter/charger

(Artist formally known as ******, well it should be obvious enough to those for whom such things are important.)

Interestingly, I had my Samsung repaired. As part of the repair, they had to do a water tightness test. It involved going onto a diagnostics menu then spraying an air duster into the sim slot and measuring something (I assume the pressure drop within the phone).
