There was a glitch on their site late last night.
I tried twice to start their test and it never loaded. Reloading the page took me to a sorry you have failed the test page.
Trying to take the test again did the same thing.

Im now locked out from taking the investing test for 30 days, so be warned not to do the same if it is taking a lomg time to load.
I have emailed octopus to complain but not heard back yet.

Very interestingly for these first two projects, on page 13 of each of the offer documents,

"As one of the first projects listed on the Collective, Octopus Energy Group has agreed to
‘underwrite’ the repayment of Fan #1 preference shares. This means that in the event the
project is unable to repay your investment amount, Octopus Energy Group will step in to
cover any shortfall."
:xx:

My only concern would be the failure of a return of capital but these initial two seem to be underwritten by Octopus and I don't see them going out of business soon. Also the income is covered 3 or 4 times going by their operating history and is cumulative, so even if one was to suffer an extended breakdown, as a preference shareholder I would still likely recover any income shortfalls before the end of the investment period.

On that basis I am considering doubling SWMBO's investment.
18.7kW PV > 110MWh generated
Ripple 6.6kW Wind + 4.5kW PV > 32MWh generated
7 Other RE Coop's
105kWh EV storage
60kWh Home battery storage
40kWh Thermal storage
GSHP + A2A HP's
Rain water use > 520 m3

Why not eh? I'm sure they'll have other offers in the near future and by then these two should be paying out. Nowtys perpetual RE engine. :D

I am still on £1 per month dd with £139 left in Octopus VB account. House is rapidly closing in on parity for buy/export costs. Down to about 20p per day cost now. Switch over to charging the VB is just around the corner (might have been yesterday, waiting for the scores).

The old Ripple money is paying out at 4.65% pa in monthly payments but I hope the home & VB can do it on their own! :ugeek:

I am enthused to see what sort of projects a beastie the size of Octopus can give us access to. Personally I'd like a bit of hydro as I think it's off the charts cool. Not so sure I'd have the testicular fortitude to invest in tidal or wave if they came up? Blue skying only here, no clue at all! 8-)

I'll defo be putting my Kinlochbervie hydro money in Spring straight into the wallet at Octopus and rolling it over into another project along with div's off the fans 1&2. VB will be getting it done via export and need no financial support. Mein own perpetual RE engine. :geek:

Still holding breath for Edinburgh solar proj to balance Linc school roof's.

As to being underwritten, that's excellent.
15kW PV SE, VI, HM, EN
42kWh LFPO4 storage
7kW ASHP
200ltr HWT.
73kWh HI5
Deep insulation, air leak ct'd home

Low energy bulbs
Veg patches & fruit trees

Thanks all, for flagging-up the Octopus Collective.

I have registered . . . and passed the High-Risk Investor test . . . Huzzah !

Before committing any £, I'll be looking at a possible alternative :-
Octopus Renewables Infrastructure Trust plc (ORIT) which invests in international renewable opportunities.
Thus, diversified, tradeable, ISA-able.

OTOH Octopus Collective
- emotional effect of identifiable asset.
- guaranteed return of capital sum ( among the small print of the Offer Doc ). Thanks for highlighting, Nowty !
- Government needs the tax on interest paid.

Is either one better for saving the world for future generations ?

Ponder . . ponder . . . Already got some ORIT . . . . ponder
4 kWp Solar PV : 50%/50% SE/SW : Solis Hybrid 3.6 : Pylontec 9.6 kWh
5 kW & 4kW Air-to-Air Mitsubishi Heat Pumps
Ripple : OctopusCollective : Triodos : Energy4All
No Car : bicycles : bus & train

How do you hold this in an ISA?
When I looked at a SIPP-type thing I found that the finance company's "management" fees would wipe out any tax gain saving I might make...
2.0 kW/4.62 MWh pa in Ripples, 4.5 kWp W-facing pv, 9.5 kWh batt
30 solar thermal tubes, 2MWh pa in Stockport, plus Congleton and Kinlochbervie Hydros,
Most travel by bike, walking or bus/train. Veg, fruit - and Bees!
