It was absolutely smooth, smooth and very professional. I am getting vario lenses fitted as I still do a lot of close work and read. SWMBO has chosen the standard ones.

We will overnight at clinic post op and will wait until our return in Oct for the second eye we think. I want to be in country and close to the clinic in the weeks following each op and settling. Once it's all done I will post up details of clinic as you never know who else's will want it as they age.

Had a light ache in eyeballs post laser but just about all gone this morning. Sadly no chance of thermal or night vision augmentation in this lifetime. :D

Glad it’s gone well Joe. Even with all the due diligence on the surgeon, facility and procedure there’s always concern.

Think your balanced, progressive approach to the procedures is correct.

Not surprised at the lack of night vision or thermal enhancement  You didn’t happen to ask about a heads up display of PV performance or interface to the BEV did you ?

I’m sure they’ve prescribed lots of lying in the sun and relaxing beverages for the next few days ;)

First eye done yesterday for each of us. Can see clearly out of it today. The surgeon says a full month to heal/bed in and it will keep improving as the injury heals and brain decodes the new data. We'll get second one done in Oct. Incredibly professional, skilled team. Top flight lenses work on four levels (apparently). £1,190 each eye. We will be £4,760 total at hospital to be both completed. :D

When swmbo did the eyechart last week she hesitated on a few of the smaller lines. Blitzed through it today on her new eye, confident and at pace!

I have loved The Who since a small boy. Keith Moon remains the only drummer I really get a kick out of watching 👀

My heroes, Keith Moon died before I saw the Who at Wembley back in 1979, supported by AC/DC, The Stranglers and Nils Lofgren :D

SWMBO said, 'watch this Joe'! The Sopranos was frozen on the screen showing a written fbi transcript. From across the room, 15ft easy on a 32" wee TV she reads out the transcript with her new eye. Fast as ye like, bang, bang, bang! Switches to t'other unaugmented eye, nada, zero, blurred nothingness. This is day 2 since op. Surgeon says it will take a month until fully settled and it will keep ramping up. Wonder Woman over here! :)
We went for these, decent bit of media with the 1,000,000th implant done. Right eye is improving all the time, brain has certainly switched to it for dominance now.

Back to clinic yesterday for checks. SWMBO is seeing at 99% in her new eye while I am at 95% at the moment. To be fair I was feeling it a bit as its a 180k drive each way and what with the brain rewiring the incoming stream and concentrating on the roads I may not have been at my absolute best.

We were both amazed at how full the world is of signage and to see vistas outwith the specs frame is truly incredible.
It was a great drive. :o

Surgeon offered    to do second eye's on Friday but we demurred and have booked in for a preop check for 5th Oct.

We both want to give the brain its full chance to adjust, retest then the Surgeon can run the figures again to dial in the optimal settings. Once done we are good to.go.until the end.  :D

I'll be honest, even if I could only go forward as is with one eye done I would, its that much of a leap forward for me. Yesterday when discussing this with the clinic manager he basically said 'you ain't seen nothing yet'.
Edit, on our morning walk I am now up to 25 paces away and able to read a number plate.
