What is stopping you from getting a proper solar/battery setup going? Is there some kind of HMO?
12x 340W JA Solar panels (4.08kWp)
3x 380W JA Solar panels (1.14kWp)
5x 2.4kWh Pylontech batteries (12kWh)
LuxPower inverter/charger

(Artist formally known as ******, well it should be obvious enough to those for whom such things are important.)

What ye saying pal? Howz it not a proper setup? Eh, eh?

I kind of get hung up on ideas. Say you've gotta sort your shit tomorrow, disaster has hit. Who are you, doing or done to?

Off the back of that 'what if' scenario I bought 180,000 mAh of mobile battery storage. Three separate battery units to power 4 devices each. Dicking about today, the two mobile solar panels knocked out 24,000mAh of power.

To put that in real terms, both phones charged, 4 usb lights charged, soundbar charged, WiFi hotspot charged, air control planned. :D

Standby battery charge increases every day I'm here. Funny, I know I'm not 'normal', catch glimpses of it every now n then out the side of my eye. That's OK though, this whole rig can be backpacked the f**k out of anywhere and comms stay up while the masts are working (incl the soundbar for nights) and i'm mobile heading NW. :)

That's the primary reason for the build as is. Secondary is that I already have the full stationary rig. Repeated it would be boring and not fully accessible year round whereas Scottish rig is used by No1 son in our absence. Our power use here is low, one 70ltr HWT, inverter AC. Its doesn't really add up to the full PV system, block walls too and tiled floors. Messy to retrofit...

Octopus update! Happy days. 😊

Hi Joe,

Exciting news! Your Home Mini is on the way and will be with you in the next week or so.

Your Home Mini will enable you to see incredibly detailed consumption data, including a live feed of exactly what your home is importing - or exporting - in real-time.

When your Home Mini arrives, please watch our 60 second video or spend a few minutes reading the manual included. Set-up is really simple: you just scan the QR code on the bottom of the Home Mini and follow the steps in the Octopus mobile app.

As a beta product there may be some wobbles, but we'll be here to support you. It's worth checking out our Home Mini guide before getting in touch but if there's anything we've missed, or if you need any help, please just respond to this email.

We're really excited to see what we can do together with this nifty piece of tech!

Love and power,

The Octopus Energy Team

Woohoo, found one of small solar table lamp in the local Migros supermarket (130tl/£5.50). This one is heading home for SWMBO to use at Scottish home.

A small win. :D

Today we went from a combined dual battery count of 105 to the heady heights of 149 (26,400 mAh). Cloudy too. Random 5V lights selection photos to follow. :D

All going well back home. House is powering itself, HWT is topped out every day, SH's are keeping background temperature at a nice place. Son is fully utilising the place and watering the plants. No bill for him this month beyond standing charge. Same for us. 8-)

Worked out well, upper bathroom for evening shower running on the 5V lights. One battery store has topped out. The 82% unit has loads plugged in!

Off over the mountains this morning in the dolmus for a good legstretcher around the bay. Going to see how many of the small usb battery packed table lamps we can find while over. Also on the lookout for a 5V usb standing fan.

Weather is cloudy which is great for the walk but means PV is on the inside in case it becomes rain. A decent wee test on a far from optimal day. I expect 2,000mAh at best. :D Better than a kick in the arse!

Yesterday was a better day although only 20,000mAh due to scattered cloud.

Outstanding day over the hill. Found two lights in the first Migros, then three shops of disheartening nothing, completed with one lonely light in the very last Migros. :D

A great walk was had as well as lunch in our favourite Turkish restaurant.

Charged the lights when we returned home. 1.33% per unit out of a fully solar charged powerbrick (780mAh).

Went over in the turbo diesel dolmus for £1.30 each & way (40 minute trip).

I am just a little bit amazed at the light these throw, really good. A couple of nights back I awoke to our air con beeping in and out as power to village cycled in and out (assume maintenance and tests). Got up with my 1 tap solar table light and went for a Jimmy. It was excellent 👏.
