So the photo which is a still capture from a video is actually a 0.45 calibre Desert Eagle. That was similar to a 0.45 magnum (Dirty Harry gun) I and SWMBO have fired at a gun range in Las Vegas a few years back.

The 0.5 calibre Desert Eagle gun is literally twice the size and your right, I see no practical use for it, I fired one shot and had no interest in firing another. It came as a package, probably about 10 Euros for a single shot.

Another participant fired the most powerful sniper rifle they had which cost 28 Euros for a single shot, Barret M99. I’m not kidding but 10 meters back with full ear defenders it was loud and and any bare skin you had, arms and face felt the shock wave. :?

Budapest is a favourite - wife’s parents left Hungary in 56, so we’ve been many times.

Been fascinating watching the changes since the end of the communist era.

A really powerful, poignant memorial that’s well worth visiting is the Shoes on the Danube on the side of the river just downstream from the parliament building.

Oh yes, worth searching out the ‘ruin bars’ in the old Jewish quarter/VII th district.
