Ours are 48 volt I think made up from 6 volt lead acid Trojan batteries, with the chargers built in, 230volt dangly lead ( poor design) sticks out in some models or hidden by hinges seat cover on other models

Down the local Migros and look what we found. Just in this morning. 8.5ltr basket airfryer for £83. How could I resist?

https://www.kumtel.com/kumtel-fastfryer-tarifleri

The link above for Turkish airfryer recipes if you fancy a go? This was SUCH a good deal. 2,990 tl with 30% off that price for Migros members. The equivalent fryers but more well known names were anything from 4,000 to 6,000tl in Marmaris.

There were about a dozen 4.5ltr one's too alongside the two 8.5ltr one's. As soon as we took our one over to the counter the lassie shouted in Turkish and her pal came hotfootin it from the back and claimed the other 8.5ltr one. Right place, right time! :) (2,093tl)

First effort is scotch egg, fish fingers and chips! So far it's quiet, a doddle to operate and its cooking right now. :D

Fish fingers and chips in half a loaf, HP, salt & vinegar. Airfryer works fine!

Thanks for confirming it was a scotch egg, I did wonder.

...Now you have to tell me more, is this a reheat of a soft yolker or a hard boiled, & did you put it in as is or spray it for crisp up?

Damn it man it's too early for scotch egg talk, (got me thinking of sous vide again now, ...which I still think you ought have out there for low energy fun, lazy cooking & a flash finish ;) ..your initial advantage being a simple deep pan for water at turkish balcony temperature being the low energy advantage ..it's efficient here it would be a breeze there, & if made to "stack" in the fridge / freezer after initial cook your ice bricks do the cooling, whether thrown to cool in chilled water or straight in the freezer for an hour or ..weeks

So currently (for example) my cool kitchen pot water is 22.8c & would be 4 odd c. warmer if I simply walked it into the conservatory, yesterday I took advantage of peak heat & raised the pot to 58.5c for 2.5 hours (would have been fine without degradation for another 3 hours.

Thus I raised my insulated pot by 35.7c an easy move in a short time.

Used it to cook off a pork loin doused in semi decent sweet paprika, maple syrup & smoke powder (see what I was going for) ..the liquid was poured onto the cypriot potatoes (such rust red soil remnants, wife was over there for some years as a kid) peas & sweetcorn.

4 slices cut & 45 second sear in a pan, plenty left for tonight / tomorrow.
Could have gone lower longer for a more translucent finish pasteurisation, but I put it in late so adopted the standard time.

It's a bit like WBS top cooking in essence, with minimal cycles for the thermostat heater & impeller combo (the effort is in getting the water to temp, obviously, with little effort to maintain it, so warmer climes, starting room temp & all that)

I'm thinking of it like an outdoor straw cooker utilising a polished stainless steel pot (& silicone lid) over there (ps my water is 7+ days old right now, frugal water change over determined by garlic use)

How hot does a pan of water in that sort of pot get in the sun over yonder?

A mate out here makes the scotch eggs. It was for swmbo. For a first run up of the fryer it was fine, later I am doing chicken and chips. Working my way up to get a handle on how it cooks. The heating element was kicking in and out nicely and it's only a 1.8kW unit.

Can't say on the pot as I don't have a thermometer to hand. Certainly at peak season air temp can hit 50 degs. If it was matt black, water too hot to handle maybe? Funny you mention the passive energy gains in water etc. I have been very aware of how little power we are using. No heat, no cooling (other than the 5v usb fans off the solar batteries).

Four Doors open to the mountains if need be so cold air flows down and through. Tiles cool underfoot. It's all very passive. Even the shower is used lukewarm. Knocks the props right out from under the power bill. Makes a nice change! 👌

A nice simple chicken n chips tonight like I loved in Nigeria. Although Pirri pirri salt added as well as Himalayan salt and pepper (plus a squeak of sugar). Anyway, noticed the element on/off indicator. Liking that! Tres geek! :ugeek:

A dozen cooks or so and we'll be getting there. Needs annealing. Enjoying the 5v & 230v combination.
