Seems Billi has a problem with everyone & everything (again) beyond basic misunderstandings & second language.

Do you understand the phrase "wind your neck back in" billi, ..as per previous recommendation, go see a doctor billi, you appear to be having problems, & creating more here, whatever your personal life may have thrown at you this is not the place to be a horses arse unless it is a self deprecating comment made in fun.

There is the different native language issue here that I am sure makes some things seem different to the way they may have been intended. Perhaps we need to allow a bit more leeway when interpreting replies from a non-native English speaker to content that may well be harder to understand from their perspective. I know that most people born and educated in the UK would immediately understand any reference to a Yorkshireman (or a Scotsman or Cornishman for that matter), but for someone who may now be familiar with the regional stereotypes that many of us grew up with the underlying meaning may get lost, or at least a bit mangled.

I'd certainly struggling to have an informal discussion, as many here are, in German, as the best I can do is get by with a limited vocabulary. The nuances of regional differences and colloquial terms in German would be things I would miss or get wrong I'm sure.

Agreed. I guess we are all here only because we are commited to renewable energy, plus overlaps into parallel "tread lightly" topics such as transport, food provenance etc.)

Billi, you have your heart in the right place and people like us all need to support each other. We still have to make our own choices about where we live and how we travel, but I'm sure there is more that unites us than divides us.

"Keep in touch" as I say to friends I don't see or hear from very often!

& joe is right, frugality allows opportunity to assist others, if I run across a pallet of rice in the wholesalers going cheap it affords me to buy up the lot & find folk who will put it to good use, because we are not currently (that can change) stressed.

I love the idea of surplus electrons being banked for the hard up, govt doing naff all except conjuring up mostly *imaginary* beds & family "care staff"

Worse to come, glad I've taught the kid to cook a bit, sending her off to Plymouth uni with an instantpot & an "x-rack" can see her flogging basic takeaway meals, she's a master chicken gleaner (well, we have cossetted dogs) & the x rack does what a rotisserie in a fancy bit of kit does for around £8 in 2022 prices, & makes for the increased recovery of meat by modern picky standards 😉

The bad thing about food banks is not "apparant" laziness to cook, but more wariness to to turn the uninitiated p.o.s. atypical oven on due to cost, depending on your outlook this fits with spiralling costs OR is sheer bloody laziness, ..the instant pot ought be rolled out for those in need to counter a metric sh1t-tonne of bad press & allow folk less fear of "cooking" ..we are losing ground & basic food competenciess otherwise.

After spending nigh on 20 years in Ireland i'd have thought billi living there would have a keen ear & understanding of language, but it seems he is often full of vitriol, perhaps Billy would care to explain to a degree one way or another to foster some understanding, he wasn't always as "mardy" (ref: the other place)

Well said!

As I get older I'm learning to be more tolerant. Seems to be the reverse of the way some age, where the grumpiness quotient increases in proportion to the passing years. I refuse to become "grumpy old man" as I get older, life's too short.

We all come from different disciplines and backgrounds. The forum was set up to communicate information with each other and more importantly those who become aware and seek RE knowledge.

This way we are active in a greater push towards RE harmony than if we did not participate and share our ideas while having some fun.

Continuing sarcasm and passive aggressive is not conducive to good communication and leaves a bad taste. I'd rather we were better than that? I think we are, all 205 of us.

I love the concept of gifting excess electrons into a power bank to be shared amongst energy deplete households.

I could imagine an appropriately pitched campaign would get a lot of traction.

How I would be managed could be a potential nightmare. M

The principle of giving one ‘to the man’ is very attractive.

Let's ask octopus,

This ought be available "just as you can select a charity" ..but with some caveats, no landlords homes unless the insulation is up to scratch, so that it's not simply peeing away heat into a cold loft,

In fact there ought be a COLLECTIVE "buy a watt option on ripple / octopus schemes for renewables in association with the likes of Martin Lewis mse site to shame governments.

At the rate of watt price on ripple turbines I'd be very happy to think that £2 odd quid lasted 25 odd years (turbine lifespan estimate) rather than going towards the £120k + per annum, of a heavily marketed *charidee* top tier of p*** poor management with an awful % for money on the ground ratio!
