03.30hrs, pushed the climate control button on the car app to defrost & preheat. Now that, I enjoy. :D

Got 1 mile into the next village and had to give up car couldn’t get up slight incline Golf EV, and I must have nearly shit myself 3or 4 times prior to this
Had to abandon it up a side street, looks like it’s parked
Couldn’t get traction.
Service earlier in the week advised 3.8mm tread on all tyres.
Walked back home and logged in remotely.
With the fouled interior cloth Swwills will be pushing that you give him a fiver for his train fare to take it off your hands for owt!
😆

On topic, no traction control on a golf ev or extreme conditions where you are?

Summer or winter tyres though?

Here in Surrey winter tyres would never pay but when it's wet and below 10C most northerners seem to find them better, especially on snow.
With only 3.8mm of tread they wouldn't be classed as winter tyres regardless of what it says on the side over here. The law states minimum tread depth for winter tyres is 4mm. If you are involved in an accident when winter tyres are mandated and you don't have them then you are in a whole world of pain.

Not winter tyres
Just the bog standard ones that came with it 2 years ago.
Think the uk limit is 1.6mm?.
Away with SWMBO with the diesel manual golf to pick up the EV automatic golf 😁

That makes sense and is similar to rules in Norway I think.

No such rule in UK AFAIK where it is still 1.6 over 75% of the tread still, winter or summer tyres

And ONLY on the primary grooves and not secondary groves which I found out about recently.

Last year SWMBO car had an advisory on the MOT certificate about low tread depth and I thought, but they are only a few months old. A year later I was thinking they would fail the MOT and the advisory has gone.

I'm always amazed by the number of people that attempt to drive on ice with a rear wheel drive coupe with summer tyres. At least center locking differential comes in handy once a year.

The problem with tyres fitted to most UK cars apart from the hard when cold compound is the lack of grooves across the width of the tyre. Most have 3,4 or 5 longitudinal grooves depending on width with only the shoulder having any tread at right angles and a total lack of sipes to clear remaining water. Great for fuel economy, ok on wet roads where the wide grooves clear the water quite well, as soon as there is any slush or snow there is nothing to create any purchase on it and when there is ice the combination of hard compound and no sipes is lethal.
Living the dream in Austria.

Minus 5 here tonight. Ongoing timeshift still in place to allow full 7.2kW EV charge (a few 850w SH's shutdown) and the home is back to acceptable levels.

I don't have a precise minus cert figure where we are today as I could skew the gig with regard to where i place the power.

Certainly minus 7 is achievable but at minus 10 too much is being sucked out of the build to be properly comfortable relying on the hamstrung SH's & WBS only.

That couple of days though eh? Glad to have the backup of GCH to allow my SWMBO to ok my ongoing 360 no gas goal.
