very very mild here in North west Wales and we are back to high winds and sideways rain - situation normal, for shareholders of WT1 I hope the wind is similar in south Wales so that they are getting some Turbine returns :)

Much the same here, 12.1°C outside here this morning, and, as I sort of expected, the house is a wee bit too warm at nearly 23°C, despite having turned all the heating off yesterday as a precaution. The reduction in heat loss from the increase in outside temperature, plus the heat stored in the floor and house from days of having the heating on every night, has caused the house to warm up a bit. When it's this warm outside we don't need heating at all, the heat the pair of us give off, plus the waste heat from appliances etc, more than covers the house heat loss. The house starts to need heat when it gets close to single figures for a few days. The outside temperature versus heating turn on point varies a bit with the wind (it increases convective loss from the outer skin of the house) but is usually somewhere between 11°C and 9°C.

WT1 is running at around 70% capacity in the last hour with 14mph winds and its an upward trend for today. :)

WT2-WT9 site has 25mph winds. Oh if only!

Day 14 of the self igniting WBS. 8-)
Similarly here but the outside thermometer is actually reading 18.5C

I tried to keep some hot coals going to re kindle in the morning and succeeded for a couple of days of heavy burning but it doesn't work normally because the eco design stove always supply some air to prevent smouldering.

What it has taught me is that the nominal 4kW stove can keep the whole house comfortable down to 5C outside but by -5 the more remote parts drop to 12C and even the lounge which receives warm air blown from the stove struggles to get to 20C while the room with the stove stays cosy.

We have not used the gas central heating at all, more about seeing if we can manage without rather than cost.

Quite similar, we are good down ro minus 7 with WBS & storage heaters, below that point I had to jazz up the GCH for about 40mins twice per day.

Give a thought for those in North America. Just listening to the radio, a meteorologist in Colorado said their air temperature had fallen 37 degrees Celsius (+6 to -31) in 18 hours.

That’s scary.

I know news organisations like to talk up perfectly ordinary winter weather. However this one in the eUS does seem to be the real deal! Even states not accustomed to cold weather will be hit. Places where the temperature never drops below freezing and the houses have little insulation and lacklustre heating systems are expecting -20℃.

It'll be pretty horrendous for people who have heating and insulation that cannot keep up...

3x 380W JA Solar panels (1.14kWp)
