Big Solar Co-op share offer - help them get to their target

As subscribers to the newsletter mailing list you've hopefully seen that the Big Solar Co-op share offer is up and running. They have now raised nearly 60% of the minimum raise of £600,000 and are already busy working on the next batch of sites.

We’re asking anyone who has thought about investing to please join up now: when the project gets to £600,000 they will issue the first batch of shares and will be able to put in firm orders for solar panels and other equipment - due to supply chain issues affecting the solar market there’s a real backlog in getting the most ethical panels.
For all the details see Big Solar Co-op's How to invest page. There are new FAQs up there and a link to the recorded webinar with more information. As ever if you have questions please call the office on 01743 835242 or email info@sharenergy.coop
and
Community Energy England Conference

A strong team of Sharenergy staff attended the Community Energy England (CEE) "Transition to Net Zero" conference in Bristol on Saturday 18th June
...
The annual “State of the Sector” report was presented at the conference and here are some headline stats from the report:

331MW of renewable energy capacity
£21.5m investment raised for new projects across the UK
£15m of community energy income spent locally, boosting local economies
57,600 people/organisations benefitting from energy efficiency measures
Over £3.3m saved on energy bills for UK households

The tough news is seeing the continued stagnation of new community-owned energy generation projects. These projects are the sector's main source of income, and so the closure of the Feed-in Tariff in 2019 hit us all hard. It’s particularly frustrating to see this when we know how impactful and efficient the sector can be.
Not posted with any kind of recommendation...

I have been looking at this but I was put off by the local volunteer aspect, 'hopefully' 4% return and tbh a few of the specific lines of communication came across as a little 'five go to Telford on an adventure'. Just not pro enough and an alarm bell gently rung in my head. Best of fortune to them though.

Raised 300k in a week
Next 60k took just under 10 days

Need another 240k to place hardware orders then a further 600k to complete project 1. That is quite a lot of ask in times when average folk are price checking everything and with no savings. I hope they can access bank funding. Its all a bit 'if we all pull together we can do it' for me as an investment. Just my cynical view when putting my money into play.

Without looking at any document & echoing Joe's sentiments, straight off the bat, is he wanting to know placement (ie, NOT on agricultural land) ..to say ethical is one thing, but I have major concerns where taking acres of cattle capable of arable land is lost to solar, it needs to do better than that, ..you can still graze n grow around wind tubines.

Shared cost, council solar & shared car park partnership project has several bonus points in the energy & heat sink of tarmacadamed acres of done properly, also a jump on point to charging facilities & green miles driving potential.
