I think The King can unilaterally provoke an election. As can the PM or a parliamentary majority vote.
However I don’t believe any of the above have ever been swayed but a petition before, so I feel it is a waste of energy.

I'm another that thinks these online petitions are a waste of time. I think they were only created as a sop, a way to fool people into believing that they had some sort of democratic influence over government.
Have any of them ever actually achieved their stated goal?

I think the ending from the film "V for Vendetta" would be a better outcome for us all at the moment as we seem to be living in the dystopian reality that the Conservatives have created...

So do I, but this bunch of self-serving crooks are so against most of the things people on here see as the way forward to a better future.

We should decide where the line is drawn. There are political topics that are relevant to this forum. However I’m not sure this is the place for naked partisan politics.

Normally I'd wholeheartedly agree, but when it comes to government policies that are intent on penalising renewable energy generation and promoting more fossil fuel use, as seems to have been the case over the past few weeks, then I think there is a valid reason to allow some political debate. As long as it's not strongly party political, and remains loosely related to RE and the reduction of our dependence on fossil fuels.

Agree but this tread is very political.
