Paywall Bypass 12ft ladder

#1

Post by nowty »

(nowtythread for searching)

I found this website on another forum for reading media links behind paywalls. I tried it a few times and seems to work apart from you lose any pictures. I've been finding it increasingly difficult to read linked articles recently.

https://12ft.io/

Prepend 12ft.io/ to the URL of any paywalled page, and we'll try our best to remove the paywall and get you access to the article.

How does it work?
The idea is pretty simple, news sites want Google to index their content so it shows up in search results. So they don't show a paywall to the Google crawler. We benefit from this because the Google crawler will cache a copy of the site every time it crawls it.

All we do is show you that cached, unpaywalled version of the page.

Thanks from me, too. Always seems to be an issue on forums when people link to a paywalled site. I'm blowed if I'm going to pay a months subscription to read one article that may, or may not, be of interest.

The 12 foot ladder website is no more, but I have found an almost identical one which still works.

www.removepaywall.com

Also another useful one which works on some stubborn ones is,

Aah nice one - I tried to use 12ft ladder at the weekend and was slightly pained to find it has been killed off. Wonder how long the other one will last before the lawyers come for it!

The original 12ft Ladder site is back up at the same web address under a slightly new guise as a web cleaner. ;)
