So this morning I used the common term "fag packet math" on a tweet
& this morning I was given a 12 hr ban for it.

"Hate speech"

Violating our rules against hateful conduct.
You may not promote violence against, threaten, or harass other people on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, religious affiliation, age, disability, or serious disease.

To highlight / avoid this issue, what phrases should be avoided like the (not chinese) plague

Historically I guess the spanish flu is out.
Avoiding references to when your alarm "woke" you
Bumble bee's

Wishing someone gets "graped" at a fruit flinging festival, & references to fruits in general?

I got part of a word asterixed out on MSE a while back, not the same word, but falling under the 'Scunthorpe' curse.

In the states, they don't use the 'back of a fag packet' term, they tend to say, 'back of a napkin maths'.

Southpark did a great episode on the use of the 'F' word as an insult in the US, when the local kids were calling Harley Davidson riders a bunch of f's, for making so much noise. Leading to a confusing court case, where the adults and children had different meaning for words (as they evolve over time). One kid when asked for his thoughts on the riders said he was 'bike curious', causing consternation in the court!

Yet another perfect opportunity to throw in the Kinks line - "It's a mixed up muddled up, shook up World ........ (except for Lola  )."

Top tune and in my Top 10 of all time. Poofs never bothered me, always took it as a compliment when I got hit on. Good luck to them, life's hard enough without getting bent out of shape over stuff like that. ๐Ÿ‘

I didn't dare use the term etymology in case a dumb human input was prone to thinking I was cursing out / sexually attracted to insects

Currently awaiting a decision on the fact that twitter as a not just for phones app, installe on my kindle & accessible from a pc want's a phone number.

Kindles don't have phone numbers, my problem with my old account that I'd had since 2009.

Contact to twitter is via twitter, even the badly thought out "accessibility for all" section.
https://help.twitter.com/en/resources/accessibility

SO my suspension is on hold (hasn't started) ..I note the use of fag packet math is commonplace on twitter, wrote via the appeal the link for collins dictionary & wikipedias etymological explanation for it, & the american " back of a napkin" mirror meaning across the pond.

Twitter AI is so dumb, & possibly its remaining human "handlers"

The point of the phone number has for a good few years been for advertising, data enlargement & least of all fraud notification.

Hopefully this is a fun thread looking at silly stuff, so it's OK to digress some ...

.... so .... I've found it quite fun to watch some 'reaction' videos, where younger folk here songs for the first time. The Americans are so funny listening to Lola. They really appreciate just how utterly gorgeous the song/music is, but you can see some confusion on their faces as they listen to the words. When they finally get to the (slightly ambiguous) line "But I know what I am and I'm glad I'm a man ยท And so is Lola." you see their faces light up with huge smiles. Hopefully times are changing and 'da yuff' aren't so upset by such 'stuff'.

Really brave song for its time, and apparently based on a real event, or at least inspired by the broad mix of London life the band hung out with in undergrtound clubs.

Certainly in my top ten of 'perfect' songs, along with Maria by Blondie, Sweet Child O'mine by Guns and Roses, and one that just gets better and better and better when Trump adopted it for his big events, seemingly oblivious to the fact that it describes him to a tee, and not in a flattering way - Fortunate Son by CCR.
