Information Commissioner’s Office reprimands forces as app was originally intended for hostage negotiators
Strong words? too harsh? ..they & another force are getting away scot free for having recorded phonecalls illegally
"Surrey and Sussex police unlawfully recorded phone calls via app, watchdog finds
Information Commissioner’s Office reprimands forces as app was originally intended for hostage negotiators"
Two police forces have been reprimanded by Britain’s data watchdog after officers unlawfully recorded more than 200,000 phone conversations using an app originally intended for hostage negotiators.
"“We can only estimate the huge amount of personal data collected during these conversations, including highly sensitive information relating to suspected crimes.”
No fine!? because the burden would be paid for by the public who are paying more & more via council tax (not so much from general taxation) ..frankly the services of police I've ever been involved in were dire apart from that of our then local village policemen who lived in the police house who talked to us all, thanked us for help, & gave advice freely when asked, since then I pretty much wouldn't waste the moisture in my mouth as spittle on the rest of them.
I remember reading of the callous treatment of Iain Tomlinson whilst in Canada in 2009, eating breakfast in a diner I don't think I've ever sworn so vociferously in public, they just never seem to learn ..it's not just a few rotten apples its rotten to the core, was then is now.
& I hope Simon Harwood the sacked cop whose mates ignored his callous thuggish treatment is suffering to his dying breath. ..if police learnt anything to improve recruitment, training & psychological profiling, it never stuck!
