There was a food/natural history/travelogue programme a few years ago on TV( about the Carribbean I think) which was trying to get the locals to get used to the idea of eating these in the streetfood "restaurants." Tourists wouldn't be a problem due to their naivity or ignorance!
The answer seems to be to fund evangelists to promote the idea and make a spear fishing business viable. A Good Thing!
