Hi all,
Just to let you know that The Green Living Forum, an excellent multifaceted RE lifestyle Forum is closing its doors next month after a good long run.
There were very kind to us when Avalon had to close it's doors. I've extended an invite for any of their members to join us over here if they wish.
Cheers
Joe

I think they were a bit quiet, a bit of legislation in the wind and called time on it at a natural jump off point. Everything has a lifespan, sad though that is to say.
Whomever comes over will be more than welcome .

The official ine is they don't have the manpower to comply with all the upcoming Internet safety rules.
I think there's probably also partly that it is nowhere near as active as it once was

Shame to hear that forum closing after all these years. Any mileage in asking if they want the database hosted here rather than sending it to oblivion?

Hi, I've just joined here and am admin for the GLF.
As suggested above, the GLF had become very quiet over the past few years, with most of the active content being general chat and only the occasional new post/thread actually about sustainable living. The Online Safety Act requirements would involve addressing many different categories of risk, demonstrating how we are mitigating for them, doing - and documenting - regular reviews. There are grey areas (such as removing dodgy posts in a 'reasonable timescale') and the size of potential fines for non-compliance (which would fall on me) is scary. One of the more concise guides, which it was recommended should be read in its entirety, was 84 pages of clauses and subclauses, and I decided my heart really wasn't in it. There had already been mutterings about the forum reaching the end of its useful life, so the decision was made that it will end in mid-March.
Joeboy, I've not seen any suggestions that this forum could host the GLF archive - did I miss that? A lot of people have asked if it could be kept available on a read-only basis - we've been telling them that it won't be possible because of hosting costs, but if it was possible for it to be hosted as an archive here, that would be fantastic
