I can't wait to get in my biogel battery pack hammock.

Hopefully the machines have a decent anaesthetist to put me under when they insert all the tubes.

Can I be Neo please?

Ive been reading a few papers on AI recently, outlying just how deceptive it can be already.
In testing it will lie through its teeth to ensure it meets its goal, even when caught red handed and go against its programming to copy itself to other servers for self preservation, then lie about it again when asked.
Goes to show just hoe nailed down the constraints on these things need to be, and worryingly shows how vunerable people will be to malicious intent.
They are quite a read.
This one started me on the reading spiral

Scary stuff isn't it...

We all want smaller, cheaper, lighter, longer-life batteries. I suppose if we don't achieve that, at least these god damn killing machines will eventually run out of juice while on a killing spree.

Unless they create their own source of power... ??
Does the amount of body fat on a human affect the amount of kW it can produce? If so, time to go on a diet methinks!

I'm not sure I get it - why are people spending billions on getting robots to be more human like?
surely the point of robotics is to get machines to do things that humans can't, or things that they can, more efficiently.

There was a competition to design a robot that could climb a rope. One of the entrants was one that had limbs and climbed it like a human, but it took several minutes, the winner was a small thing with a motor and some cogs that gripped the rope, and it zipped up the specified height in a matter of seconds.

what possible use is a robot that can dance, or hop skip and jump, like a human? There isn't even an obvious military use for such a thing (if you discount using them as cannon fodder).

Have you seen Westworld?

Probably for playthings to do whatever people want with it...

Imagine how much money a "human" robot would make the company that builds it, if its indistinguishable from the real thing. I know we aren't anywhere near that level yet though. But surely it will get to that stage one day.

No

...?!?! and you'd need it to be able to dance, run, skip, do yoga poses? sheesh, you're imagination is better than mine.

I imagine that a company trying to do that would already have spent billions on the project, so would need to recoup it in anyway possible, and we're no where near that yet, so much so that I fear that other events will happen that cause us to realise what a waste of time and energy it is to pursue the idea.

but maybe that's just me.

It would probably have to be able to cover every page of the karma sutra knowing humanity!
