Just popped into IamKate (as you do) and noticed that we've got nicely high wind (19.7GW, nicely high nuke (4.9GW) so renewables and nuke is at 88% of demand) and extremely low gas (1.29GW) - I think that's the lowest gas has been so far - just 4% of total demand?

Yep, that does indeed look like the lowest gas generation I recall. I did a site search using Google, and found this from Oct 2023 this from March this year.
Frequency looks stable too, perhaps running a little high in the last hour and a half (that site is running on GMT)

We also seem to be exporting more than the gas is generating at present 11:36BST

Is it 2025 that NG ESO said the grid should be capable of running at 100% low carbon? If so, then it looks like we are close, with exports 2x gas generation. Unless of course the gas is needed somewhere that RE can't match, and the export is RE that can't be used ..... IYSWIM.

Fun times.

NESO said recently that the UK grid could in certain circumstances run without FF towards the end of 2025. Of course there would still likely be the biomass burning.

Many thanks.

Looking forward to the day it happens, and the news coverage, I wonder if it'll be positive?

Yes - 2025 "when conditions allow". Although whether that includes the burning of trees at Drax and claiming that to be low carbon isn't clear.
But it feels like we're getting closer and closer to the first "zero gas" moment on the grid, which will be a step forward however short it turns out to be.
