Coffee packaging ..taking stock, left in trashsville

Taking stock of coffee packaging.now that the c. maker is getting a hammering.I
Filter papers, brown, unbleached ..easy
Sugar, paper bag ..easy
There was merely one plastic bag cover, then all cardboard, ..wish I could say the same for the ground coffee / beans bags

Problem for us is finding good coffee in non recyclable, non mixed packaging " currently not recycled"

Cafe direct? ..non recyclable.
Lidl (found it on the shelf for a good ingredient I think)...non recyclable.

other brand (name escapes me) ditto.

The only thing I found was Costco Columbian big metal & plastic flat lid tin (around a tenner) too far to go all the time.

In Canada we were used to self serve weigh & grinding beans in store popping it in a paper bag + taking it home.for a swap out to a decent container (Safeways supermarket)

What's the solution for recyclable coffee ground packaging here folks? It all seems to be dense plastic for landfill.

Had words with wife & daughter asking them to be more observant, & ask about crap packaging options instore, ..y'see this is why I like simple paper teabags, minimal plastic wrap.

I buy the big bags of Lavaza beans. Non-recyclable but one bag lasts me a month (and I drink a lot of coffee). 100x better than pods that’s for sure!

Yeah, I had a meltdown years ago about the pods.

Thankfully these days they are bio-degradable in the main.
I'm trying to get wife & daughter away from pods, which are stupidly expensive & energy heavy (regardless of bio-status)
That was in part why I bought the Melitta timer coffee machine which they love (especially when I make it at 5.30 in the am) for cups & sigg flasks.

There is so much packaging that isn't "currently recyclable" acceptable marketing for we DNGAF.
With the likes of non recyclable prescription packaging & this it's annoying the crud out of me (esp as recyclers don't invest in new tech to improve matters, its just another business in the main (Amey Cespa etc)

So don't want to add to the pile of landfill (I live near one as is & there is a proposed "eco" *cough* chimney for non recyclables incineration + power proposed) ..on the fens, which will be for this kind of matter, blurring the line where "recycling" is concerned.

Looks like its tins from costco for now, & eventually a burr grinder, ..the dualit one isn't repairable, ..for shame!

I've got a Delonghi "bean to cup" coffee machine. Went for the basic one, just wanted coffee beans turned into espresso. It gives me lots of jobs to do "empty grounds", "refill water", etc., but a £10 bag of lavaza makes a *LOT* of coffee. It does have a milk steamer but if anyone wants a cafe latte I tend to heat the milk in the microwave and pour the espresso over. It can also make "long coffee" but I prefer espresso with hot water from the boiling tap.

Cost per cup is good, waste created per cup is acceptable.

If you can point me towards somewhere I can buy 1kg of beans, in sustainable packaging, for £10 or less. I'd bite your hand off!

Unfortunately I see a good few bean to brew units knackered on ebay, so I was put off buying one based on space & longevity potential.
Also why i'm in a quandry about a burr grinder that I have no idea as to amount of use versus longevity, space & price paid.

Burr obviously.

Seems we have to get vocal.
There are companies producing Ldpe packaging (easily recycled) but most seem to use a combination of 2 - 4 layers of mixed material media, that & the crappy de-gassing valve,
