That pot is a thing of beauty. I’m all about cast iron! Really pleasing to cook with.

Cheers pal, it is a first for me, SWMBO has an eye for it and an almost infinite memory.

Momentous day yesterday. Finally packed out the last woodstore, splitting and stacking complete! Ready for Winter 22.

Currently stacking logs for Winter 23. The difference between
the two photos at the back of the cabin show the volume that I can carry in the transit connect in a single load.

Fortunate that I have around six more loads to collect. Don't need the gym! 8lb sledgehammer for scale.

A mate of mine bought a house out in the country, he actually got two houses in the sale. His house is a new build and the second home which is on his land had been occupied by a lady known as Mushroom Mary for years (she has been gone for a few years). The second house is bone dry, just needs updating inside. The garden that came with MM's wee place was completely overgrown with self seeded trees, essentially a mini forest. Blocked all the light to the new house. We went at it with chainsaws from Feb until nowish on and off. Probably felled and logged about 30 to 40 trees. There are a load more to come down in Autumn.

The hardest thing has been trying to get him to take money for it. Says i'm doing him a favour by helping with it. That sits wrong with me so I left an envelope of money and ran away last time. This latest set is on the promise that he lets me take him out on the piss and for dinner soon. :)

Another duller day with on/off PV, temps just dipping at 19.45hrs to 20.1 degs indoors. Fired up the WS, ran up on kindling and three smallish logs. Brought room up to 21.8 degs and boiled the kettle.

That's some pretty damn excellent 👏 👌 controlled point specific RE?

Wish I'd had a pan of soup ingredients ready to slow cook overnight (note to self). ;)

Really enjoying these days of finding the balance, I know it should be Summer by now yet these on/off blasts of PV gain coupled with all else we have in play makes for a very satisfying day. The only casualty today was no power to EV but we have 160 miles in it already. Maybe tomorrow for a wee charge for it?
WAY more interesting lifestyle than just flick a switch & pay. :ugeek:

She was an early project so double skinned insulated roof and polystyrene isolation of the concrete mat.

Got a couple of ideas for junk heap challenge to isolate the unit and stovepipe from floor and walls.
