Re: OK, let's spec this system.
Still not heard back from Infinity yet, despite several phone calls and email. However, Biggreenbeard.co.uk replied with information about my choices and prices to order from them. For those that might be interested,
Luxpower Squirrel pod inverter:- £975
Luxpower ACS:- £825
Pylon Usc3000:- £1000
all plus vat and delivery as and when they're available. Waiting on a full quote and potential delivery date. They can also recommend a local installer so I've asked for that info as well.
Oh and they have a new battery coming soon, Greenlinx 3200, 3.2kwh 100% DOD, waiting to hear about that. Will probably go with 4 pylontech as they have such a good track record along with the squirrel pod inverter as that gives better expansion options in the future if I go with a bigger battery pack as they can be linked together apparently.

Thanks for the info. You're one step ahead of me then, I've not heard back from either yet. Have you got an installer lined up to install or attempt to get VAT back, or are you ordering yourself for a DIY install?

Re: OK, let's spec this system.
Is vat refund available for a non-export system? I'm just putting in battery and inverter and setting it for zero export as I already have a fit system.
My thought was to order the bits and fit most of it then get a local sparky that I've worked with before to do the final connections to the grid side. Paying a sparky to put brackets on the wall and unpack things for a few hours seems expensive when I can do that stuff myself. That said, if an installer was a reasonable cost then I could just get them to do the lot as long as I can oversee to make sure things are done the way I want them.

Re: OK, let's spec this system.
If you buy the bits yourself the VAT is 20% unfortunately.
Even an installer pays the 20% VAT but then claims it back, you cannot.

Re: OK, let's spec this system.
Ah I didn’t realise that, will check with an installer then, might cost the same for less hassle.

Re: OK, let's spec this system.
Just paid for my setup, Luxpower squirrel pod and 4 x US3000C batteries plus a couple of brackets. Hopefully be here next week and I can start making the bits fit and install what I can before getting a sparky to do the final hookup and install a small additional board for the EPS circuits. Quite excited now.

Like the name, so you squirrel away the power in the batteries.

I thought Its only 0 rated if you install Solar PV and batteries at the same time. Batteries on their own are 20%.nowty wrote: ↑Wed Apr 06, 2022 1:35 pm If you buy the bits yourself the VAT is 20% unfortunately.
