BIG jump in petrol reported today
Re: BIG jump in petrol reported today
Yes I was reading that drag can reduce your range to fifty percent, but that still gives around 150 miles so I’m hoping that my habit of driving overnight will enable me to access a couple of supercharger’s to top up without too much fuss.
Hopefully some of the motorway services will start to build drive through chargers to address the hitch issue otherwise it’s off with the van and motor move it to a spare parking bay then motor move it back to the car to re- hitch and go.
We won’t be on the road before nine tonight and aim to be at the site around 3 or 4 am I’m hopeful that I can find some southbound hgvs that I can sit in tight behind to get a few extra mpg’s, it takes a lot more concentration watching the back of the lorry in front but worth it from past experience

I read somewhere that the Guess-o-meter in that particular BEV (might have been a Volvo XC40) halved the predicted range as soon as it detected a trailer being connected. The person noticing this had merely connected a bike carrier but the car had assumed a big, heavy, caravan!

We will know more once it arrives and I do some real world towing but I must admit it’s exciting as the torque and power control will beat ICE hands down
Just got to wait now and hope nothing crops up to delay things

Re: BIG jump in petrol reported today
Yep the vast zero-rpm torque is perfect for towing. One reason why trains/mining vehicles are often “diesel-electric”.

Great time to buy a range rover, ..bad time of you cannot afford to fill that 3 year leased range rover, there's going to be a few handed back now that's for sure!
See how they made the fuel tank bigger over time, somehow I don't think that's to deal with hot weather fuel expansion
I scooted past one local to me that's definitely doing less miles nowadays.

My smart 450 has around 35 litres of gets topped up a few times a year not a few times per week & I go ouch even then as it's premium unleaded two thirds smaller than a modern range rover, reminds me of that American financial crash when leasing folk did the same, ..leasing was less prevalent here, how it's all over the show, adding to inflation damage.

Inflation and higher (more normal) interest rates are going to screw over the “new car every 3 years on PCP” crew!Mr Gus wrote: ↑Fri Jun 10, 2022 8:01 am https://cararac.com/fuel_tank_size/land ... sport.html

For many years they’ve managed to get a new Audi for £350 a month paying 4% (or lower) interest. What happens when their current deal is up and interest rates are 8 or 12%?

Re: BIG jump in petrol reported today
Yup Stinsy.
Perhaps it's time to stop calling it inflation & instead "inflammation" ...it's going to leave plenty of painful marks on society.
(as well as another temporary downgrading of bloated SUV lease / purchases)

Yes I remember the septics pulling huge coal trains around the Trent power station / Yorkshire coal fields loop - you could sit for ten or twenty minutes watching wagon after wagon pass by

Like waiting for a grain / other freight train to pass you in Canada. (or any country level crossing on the mainline up & down the uk. especially the past 30 years as they stopped being manned)
