Pelforth Brun - way to go Gus

Did ask for it in a very nice restaurant in Bayeux (many years ago). Got a bottle of wine - shows how good my French was (is).

I think Pelforth is a very distinguished name for an oversize French bulldog ..we settled on "Tank" in the end, which suits his squat, oblong, low slung presence.

With the airport carnival of errors playing out, I don't think i'm going anywhere for a while to sup pelforth brun.

My only concern with using Pelforth (Pelfort) as a moniker, would be the association with a Pelican (Pélican), but I’m sure the right Frenchie with the appropriate attitude could carry it.

His other nickname is "Andre the giant" ..he went on a charity meet up for a Frenchie rescue site pre covid & stick out like a sore towering over the others by a couple of inches, ..to cries of "& he has a tail" (stump, covering his butt, thankfully)

This is our first frenchie, he is an absolute gannet (never mind a pelican) ..he's a sausage gargler, only in his mouth long enough to get it the right way for his throat & It's gone, no chewing.

Saying that my favourite easily found bar / can inna supermarche is "Pelforth" brown, ..the wife refused to let me call our French bulldog that, ..don't understand her "reasoning" but it involved a lot of swearing.

We are still in Normaday, away to look at a house tomorrow. Faliase? At the moment. Really enjoying it, as is SWMBO.

Falaise, Joe. Always remember it as one of those places to endure before they built the ring road.

If you have time, have a look at Sées - close by. Lovely little town, belting Cathedral. Absolutely stunning. If you get there, let me know if the telephone box is still on the square.

Talking about Falaise, my uncle was there in the 1940’s - some horrible battle - the Falaise Pocket, one of the decisive battles post the Normandy landings.

You wouldn’t tell now.

Cheers BTB, we had no clue prior to arrival. Literally heading Southish to look at a property tomorrow. Saw the town cathedral, tank and heavy gun. Walked around, read some plaques. Stomach dropping away. The balls on those lads that came ashore..

Cheers BTB, we had no clue prior to arrival. Literally heading Southish to look at a property tomorrow, saw a camping sign do stopped. Saw the town cathedral, tank and heavy gun. Walked around, read some plaques. Stomach dropping away. The balls on those lads that came ashore..

Don’t know how far you’re wanting to go ? If you head towards Tours via Le Mans (not sure the Bongo is up to Mulsanne ) then divert off towards Châteauroux, you must stop off in Loches - lots of troglodyte homes, an amazing citadel and, if you’re there for Bastille Day, a bonkers night.

If you want to travel on further, towards Limoges, you should stop at Oradour-sur-Glane to appreciate the atrocities of WW2.

We went with the kids (11 & 13 at the time) and they were very quiet. Puts what’s happening in Ukraine in a sharp perspective.

If you’ve got that far, do visit Limoges. Belting small city, lots of good times - used to ‘live’ in the Correze.

NEVER disrespect the Bongo! Did the Alps a few years ago Effortlessly. Limoges will be pretty close by our Terminus heading South..
After that, we will randomly pinball Northish on B roads returning to Dunkirk for our ferry crossing 1st July. Will have a swatch at your recommended stops, much genuine appreciated. Stopped off at a Elecelec(?) Hypermarket today while heading South, Jesus, the produce choice/quality/price was astonishing. I am hopefully done with war stuff for this trip. I still feel the weight of Dachau from three years ago today ..
