And one of the reasons for lower uk nuke generation is,
Bye bye Hinckley Point B forever, July 2022 is its decommissioning time.

Fingers crossed that the external window blind/awning things I've ordered get here before the weekend, if they do it should be a good test to see if they work or not.

Cambridge currently holds the UK record temp record at 38.7 degrees in July 2019.
Might break that come Monday / Tuesday.

Toasty:
12x 340W JA Solar panels (4.08kWp)
3x 380W JA Solar panels (1.14kWp)
5x 2.4kWh Pylontech batteries (12kWh)
LuxPower inverter/charger
(Artist formally known as ******, well it should be obvious enough to those for whom such things are important.)

Re: 40 degrees next weekend, mid July ?
I'm just rigging up a temporary external shade to my south-facing patio doors with the low-tech combination of two lengths of wood, an old dust sheet and some clothes pegs. I always close the curtains anyway in hot weather but it gets a bit toasty between them and the glass.
Update:
It's not pretty or particularly windproof but only has to last a few days.

Re: 40 degrees next weekend, mid July ?
we are wondering how hot it will really get, as most of the severe weather warnings recently haven't been fulfilled. If it was just that they weren't accurate we would have had both lighter and worse outcomes, but it never seems to be as bad as forecast.
Lots of forecasters with whose remit impinges on public safety seem to go OTT with their warnings nowadays, exemplified by the hysterical propaganda (presented as public health warnings) during Covid lockdowns.
We are just within the red warning zone so it will be interesting to see how it turns out this time. I wonder if there is a way to get a picture of temperatures like we can see on the rainfall radar: the temperature offering is nowhere near as good.
