A very valuable cautionary tale, thank-you OGB.

Dead beats, dear ears, dying planet.
A while after nowtys post I heard Johnson the Johnson spouting bollocks about the UK environment "goals" the posts of which he failed to mention moving.(backpatting himself)
If I wasn't so hot I would have got angry.

Got to apartment last night, all three aircons on as internal walls were warm to the touch! Ran all night and this morning it's noticeabley cooler. One unit already switched off. My old mate out here told me he ran his for a few hours in evening to pull the bedroom temp down then switched off so no fan noise when sleeping. A cooling storage battery using the concrete walls as the storage medium.
The cooling gear I use out here (water, fridge freezer & AC) are all from a company called Vestel. I mention this in case any of you come across them on your travels, really good gear and lasts a long time.
Will spend most of the next few weeks in pool or sea.

We've found that we can leave our aircon in the bedroom on overnight, as long as we switch it to "eco" mode and set it to 20°C. On those settings it is whisper quiet and doesn't disturb us at all. Surprising, as my wife gets disturbed by the sound of the fan coming on in the bathroom, so I had to add a switch to stop it coming on at night, but the aircon is a lot quieter than that, even though it's on the bedroom wall opposite our bed. The unit is a Toshiba split that I DIY installed a while ago, came pre-gassed and was easy to install.

We are the same in our place, I work my way up to about 24 degs and its barely noticeable. In these temps it's a necessity not a luxury. Sad its going the same way in UK.Oldgreybeard wrote: ↑Wed Jul 20, 2022 8:41 am We've found that we can leave our aircon in the bedroom on overnight, as long as we switch it to "eco" mode and set it to 20°C. Vestel make pcbs / boards for the cheaper Panasonic tv ranges (for that area they are often knocked as re-badges)
They are a Turkish brand feeding those names you haven't necessarily heard of to the likes of currys, dixons, catalogues etc.
Been around since 1984.

Joe needs to keep an eye out for their home & commercial EV chargers out there https://vestelinternational.com/en/ev-charger

Out with SWMBO looking for a new parasol base. Went into a local supermarket A101. They all have an outdoor Aldi middle aisle. Sadly no parasol base but as we were leaving I spotted new fridges in a stack. I did a double take as right beside the fridges were split air con systems for sale!
12,000 btu, R32 gas, 7,499 TL. Street rate here is 20TL to the £ so that's £375 for a diy 12k btu aircon system. I am SO tempted!

Sports gear?
As we have been focusing on air cons lately I have been keep SWMBO abreast of the this n that.
SWMBO came up with this towel drying solution using the aircon external unit mounting brackets. A couple of short lengths of tightly pulled bungee cord and good to go! Totally non intrusive and RE wind powered. Gotta love that!

Scorchio again...
Just had a week looking after our 7- and 9-year old granddaughters... They think Scorchio is hilarious - and mega-scorchio too!
Waste water re-used all the time now, I think I'll start putting a bowl in the upstairs wash basin so I can empty it into a bucket. Bath will have to be syphoned out again. I'll go and get the hose ready.
