Re: Small things matter
They do - think ours will be getting a dust off soon enough. Looks like temps are going to fall significantly by the weekend.
Be good to see how our extra insulation we installed this year plays out.

Excellent, that's a great thing to look forward to, best of fortune in that. Temps dropped at night here a couple of days ago and last night was first time I thought 'oh aye, here we go'. Great today though, 6.5kW coming in!Bugtownboy wrote: ↑Mon Sep 12, 2022 12:57 pm They do - think ours will be getting a dust off soon enough. Re: Small things matter
Going to be a bit of a shock when it comes. Think I’ve been in only shorts (apart from when we go out ) since the middle of February. We were in Lanzarotenfor a few weeks then, though.
Don’t know if it’s a general thing, but the older I get I hate grey, dull weather more and more. I’m ok with cold as long as it’s bright.
Just hate the gloomy stuff
Think the glow from the WBS compensates a little - as well as the heat.

+1 for still in shorts. Even when it has been grey/wet it has still been warm enough.Bugtownboy wrote: ↑Mon Sep 12, 2022 1:19 pm Going to be a bit of a shock when it comes. I often fall into the trap of thinking people know what I know. Hit me today that this might be worth sharing and see what you guys link in cooking? I'll start with onion and sausage casserole then turns into chicken Irish type stew which the turns into 1 gallon of highly peppered Haggis broth.
Below is the current Irish stew with pearl barley & buttered cabbage. .

Re: Small things matter
The Irish stew was fantastic, it cooked at setting 1 on the induction hob all day. The Haggis broth is now on WBS 1, as I quickly prepped it (2 minutes) I could see a bit of sausage and chicken too, then the Haggis went in. It will be outstanding! Garden potato will be added tomorrow to brim the pot.
Game on, come ahead Winter.

Man after me own heart
We try to use the remnants of one meal, if appropriate, for the startings of the next. Today, the leftovers of the fresh veg soup became the basis of a mushroom sauce to have with fresh tortellini.
As well as avoiding waste, I’m sure the complexity/depth of taste increases with every iteration.
Suits slow cooked/stew type meals well.

Re: Small things matter
I made a big batch of butter chicken the other week. There was loads of sauce leftover after I decanted into my freezer tubs so I got a bog pack of "fire pit" sausages cheap in Tesco (they were selling off all the BBQ meat) and made "sausage curry".
Sausage curry used to be a staple of my uni days!

Cheers BTB, agree on the taste developing in further iterations.Bugtownboy wrote: ↑Tue Sep 13, 2022 7:23 pm Man after me own heart
