Part ownership of a Ripple Wind Turbine, fancy it?
Re: Part ownership of a Wind Turbine, fancy it?
My mate just sent me a link saying:
Dear Sir, your turbine installation is going to be later than anticipated!
Don't get this company to transport the blades for the turbine!

Re: Part ownership of a Wind Turbine, fancy it?
There is never any comms to train that can make any difference at all in these circumstances. Those trains might take a couple of miles to stop, and it's why railways have signal sections - and entering an occupied one is usually a sacking offence.
The road hauliers were off the planned route, and not professional enough to go back and pick it up again, or even stop and check their options.
Several of the comments point out that at every crossing in the USA there is a sign saying "Call the railroad" with the phone number.
Anyone remember Hixon Green here in the UK? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hixon_rail_crash That prompted a tightening up...
p.s. the US train stopped quite quickly, but there is still a risk of derailment (and jacknifing) of the train in those events. Often destruction of track and vehicles follows - on top of the loss of the freight in the cars. The insurer (i.e. all the rest of us) might pay for it, but I doubt that the guilty party will see anything like enough costs to change their behaviour.

Oh dear, I've just paid £25 to reserve up to 900w in the next ripple wind farm even though,
a) The first one is not yet built.
b) There is no information about it.
If you are already a member, then if you log into your ripple account, you will see the invitation. Although I maybe already over the 120%, I'm sure my second EV will change that.

Interestingly, the Lochaber one lists construction or other delays and potentially missing out on FITs as a risk... That must apply here too, although the risk may be minimised for "a bit more of the same!"
I wonder whether government will realise that they need to keep encouraging this sort of thign and extend FITs?

Re: Part ownership of a Wind Turbine, fancy it?
There is no FITs for Onshore Wind anymore, ripple wind turbine one does not have FITs.

That's interesting, I wonder why they even mentioned it then... It's not different in Scotland, is it?
They might have shot themselves in the foot with outdated premises, maybe the scheme was originally developed when there were FITs?

The Lochaber project is hydro where FITs still exist in some exceptions.AE-NMidlands wrote: ↑Fri Sep 03, 2021 7:35 pm That's interesting, I wonder why they even mentioned it then... It's not different in Scotland, is it?

Edit - OK, I don't think its necessarily hydro, but some exceptions still exist where an application was submitted before the closure date. There was a 12 month grace period but COVID may have extended the deadlines.
