Energy Tariffs
Re: Energy Tariffs
Apparently there have been some emails out from Octopus regarding new rates from 1st Oct for E7 customers, they vary from place to place and not all have been released yet, but they look like,
Standing Charge 37p
Peak 44p
Off Peak 15p
NOTE - These are the variable capped rates for E7 and NOT for Go, Go Faster, Intelligent, etc.
The peak has increased, the Off Peak has decreased and the SC is roughly the same.

Re: Energy Tariffs
That would be a winner for us, it would make our annual energy bill £392.85, after the £400 government rebate, so about £32.74 per month. I could live with that!nowty wrote: ↑Sun Sep 18, 2022 6:21 pm Apparently there have been some emails out from Octopus regarding new rates from 1st Oct for E7 customers, they vary from place to place and not all have been released yet, but they look like,

And something in the press saying Octopus is increasing its fixed SEG from 7.5p to 15p per kWh exported.

Re: Energy Tariffs
As an existing EDF customer I've just managed to extract an Economy 7 price from them, water from stone would be easier. For info of any body interested.
South West region
Standard tariff
Daily 52.64p
Units 33.86p
E7
Daily Charge 52.74p
Day Time 42.75p
Night Rate 14.82p
I'll try and get a price from Octopus before I do anything. Currently the telephone line is reciting we are terribly busy, and we don't know yet what the Gov't is going to do.

Thanks for that OGB. I hadn't picked up on that. The figures in your link do not have the correction applied. So they will be lower. I'm with utility warehouse and its the following for me going forward. These are the North of Scotland figures which are amongst the highest in the country.Oldgreybeard wrote: ↑Sun Sep 18, 2022 2:27 pm
Just found a major snag with the second link. This is the tariff that applies to customers that are eligible for "Safeguard Assist", so low income households that are eligible for the Warm Homes Scheme subsidy. Unless you are eligible for this subsidised tariff then you won't be able to switch to it. There's info on the Safeguard scheme here: https://www.homeheatingguide.co.uk/gran ... ard-tariff
The link to the tariffs that apply to customers that are not on low incomes is here: https://www.edfenergy.com/sites/default ... credit.pdf
Note that the prices are a great deal higher than those linked in the quoted post above, so my subsequent posts referring to those prices don't apply for us, or most people I suspect. I'll edit those posts to make this clear.
standing 41.111 p
day 40.324 p
night 16.901 p
Earlier someone mentioned that EDF were not accepting new customers. I read somewhere today that an Ofgem spokesman said a provider cannot refuse you joining a company. If that is true I guess ultimately you need to keep pushing back if you find a deal that is good somewhere and you really want it.
EDIT:
I just phone EDF
E10 rates for me:
Standing: 51.16
Day: 49.47. E7 approx 41p
Night : 15.58. E7 same
Re: Energy Tariffs
I just got an email from Octopus Energy to update my E7 Flexible tariff rates (East Midlands).
All inc 5% VAT, but excluding the £400 support over 6 months this Winter.
Flexible Without With
E7 support support
01/04/2022 01/10/2022 01/10/2022
StCharge 44.573p 44.217p 44.217p
Day 30.00p 64.185p 41.106p
Night 20.70p 26.085p 15.461p
A big increase in daytime rate, that can be offset by time shifting more consumption to night.
Without the new support, the day time rate would have been a shocker.

Re: Energy Tariffs
Just an update.
I've emailed hello@octopus.energy to try and get a quote. I'll keep you posted if I get any response, it looks like we could have OFGEN on our side for once in trying to push suppliers.

Re: Energy Tariffs
Just a heads up warning. With people scrabbling around to try and find out what they will be paying for energy, together with the apparent dearth of hard information from suppliers as to what the October tariffs will be, it seems that scammers have jumped in to fill the vacuum: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-62967556
People are being warned to look out for fake emails and texts claiming to offer discounts on energy bills.
A number of different scams have been circulating, including some that appear to be from the energy regulator Ofgem.
The government has announced that a £400 energy bill discount will be available to all households.
But this will be automatic and people should not give away personal details in order to apply.

Re: Energy Tariffs
The £400 is giving me grief. My current supplier, EDF, is going to pay it directly into my bank. My possible supplier, Octopus, is going to pay into the energy account. As I'm hoping my bill will be greatly reduced, with batteries and E7 tariff, if the money is still Octopus's hands it will take a long while to get the benefit. Do I move now or wait 6 months then move after the cash is in my account?

If it helps I (and someone else here, I think) have commented how good Octopus were about handing back a surplus in the account.Thebeeman wrote: ↑Wed Sep 21, 2022 12:17 pm The £400 is giving me grief.
