Jumping on late:

There is a heck of a lot of support (non manufacturer) for pylon-tech, from places like this, I see less for gro-watt, but could be wrong.
That alone sways me.

I don't think so, he has a business which pretty much consumes him. I think he'll be happier just paying.

I offered my help if he does go diy which would be a gut laugh as neither if us is quite right and we always had a good laugh offshore. :D :twisted:

He is more than capable of doing it himself but I'm not sure it's an option these days.

The intrusiveness of growatt as functions accessed through the chinese server and the lack of support for simple stuff like setting the battery to charge from off peak would sway me to something more open if I were doing it again.

Also the possibility of adding a secondary battery is more limited (because of the voltage discrepancy due to 16 LiPo cells rather than 15 in Pylontech??)

In that case i don't think he would go wrong with Pylontechs, as other state - there is a world of information on sorting out their issues besides the official stuff from the manufacturer.
