Solar Edge: Monitoring AC connected battery?

#1

Post by Lincs Robert »

Hi,

Does anyone know if it’s possible to have the Solar Edge, SE, monitoring portal/app monitor a connection to an AC connected battery system?

When my system was installed, 2018, the HD wave inverter (with LCD display) had an external monitoring/metering unit added so that it could monitor the house load via a CT. Surely adding another one sensing the AC connection to the battery and connecting it to the inverter would allow the battery connection to be monitored as well? This is what the Zappi does.

In anticipation- Rob

Nowty put me onto the sole edge equipment, I have registered as an installer( just a home owner though) to get some free coaching etc, worth trying this.

No checks apart from a confirmation email.

Er, ok. But that doesn’t explain if it’s possible at all does it? I’ve been through the quite extensive manual for the metering unit and although I’ve established it’s possible to have a second unit connected to an inverter, it makes no mention of monitoring an AC connected battery system - which I’m concluding would be a feature of the monitoring system/app as opposed to the hardware. The metering unit connects to a CT and the via Modbus into the inverter - that’s the easy bit I think. It’s the software configuration & whether what I’m considering is even possible. It’s possibly not possible as SE do their own battery system & what I’m interested in is monitoring a 3rd party battery.

Thanks anyway …..
