They may as well have bought the body shell of the smart 450 in essence (8 foot 2 inches in length) with removable battery "cannisters"

This is another solar panel roofed city hire EV share fund raiser.
The old solar can /will put another 20 km per day (if you can find suitably unfettered views of the sky in the city that is)

It is planned to be a metre wide (reported in 1 place, & 1.2 metres wide elsewhere on their site, which if you've ever been in a smart 450 (the original smart) is "snug" at 151 cm wide including wing mirrors.

Maybe it is yet another crowdfunding scam: it looks good on the surface, but any informed analysis says it won't fly. In the meantime it will enrich the promoters, of course! Reminds me of this ( self-emptying honey super) which I think was over-subscribed hundreds of times over.
Reminds me of my mining engineer friend's comments that most prospective mine developments are designed to enrich the promoters: most groundwork never happens.

The ED smart car city hire schemes & ones ongoing in Berlin should be enough really, very few folk wish to hire a golf buggy / revamped mini moke type vehicle, at least a twizy has personality.
