Idiot's guide to a self build battery
Re: Idiot's guide to a self build battery
That's the Ioniq 5 plugged into the extension reel and chip pan. SWMBO is getting into the spirit of it. Wants to run the washing machine off the car once we've eaten. 54% soc and 127 miles range on the car.
Very impressed with how much light is thrown by the led striplight.

Re: Idiot's guide to a self build battery
Oh interesting, my lux reports alot of information from the PYLONTECH CAN.
I never really looked into how much it leans on the battery BMS but it makes sense.
I'll deffo build one as a project.
DM me if you do a group order.

This has turned out to be a nice evening.
Air fryer using home batteries cooked steak pie
WBS heated through mince and also peas
Hyundai Ioniq 5 EV cooked the chips
Not a grid touch in it. OK, there IS grid touch but it's in the charging Go window.
EV is now running the washing machine.

Steak pie and mince? That's decadence! Shows what you can afford when you don't have to worry about the cost of power...Joeboy wrote: ↑Sat Nov 19, 2022 6:32 pm This has turned out to be a nice evening.

Well spotted! That one comes from my wife's upbringing and going first footing as a teen. The tradition itself comes from the farms. Pretty epic eh?AE-NMidlands wrote: ↑Sat Nov 19, 2022 6:40 pmSteak pie and mince? That's decadence! Re: Idiot's guide to a self build battery
I suppose the mince is just super-good gravy! I'll bear that in mind for the next time we have a pie (Yesterday we had beef stew with dumplings, apple crumble and custard to follow, but this is the wrong thread for that... One day I shall be doing this on home produced electrons (or cheap rate ones time-shifted by a battery) but for now I'm afraid we are still consuming gas.)Joeboy wrote: ↑Sat Nov 19, 2022 6:45 pmWell spotted! No worries pal, doesn't stop you trying steak pie and mince. Decadent is the perfect word for it...AE-NMidlands wrote: ↑Sat Nov 19, 2022 7:01 pmI suppose the mince is just super-good gravy! Finished strong with 23% soc at 21.00hrs, that'll do! There's some deep low end capacity in this set up.

Re: Idiot's guide to a self build battery
Sorry to labour this point, at 21.26hrs we were still up around 40% soc give or take a smidgen. This extra depth of stored energy is taking a little getting used to.
