I cannot cook on mine either but I'm roasting, I think some wood ash has jammed under the sliding air control so the only temperature control is by putting small logs in, currently a large log undergoing positive feedback as it heat up. It will be a faff removing the stove and putting it on its back so I can clean it or I could just let the grate fill up with ash.

The Heath Robinson pipes convey 37C air into the lounge 3 metres away. It has provided all our heating for 2 years since I removed the 10kW pellet heater into storage in my shed.
