are you on Windows?

windows 11home, RJ45 cut and connected to female RS232, then to male RS232<> USB. I've checked wiring with the manual for US3000C so it should be ok.

Have you got TX and RX the right way round?

Think that's the wrong way RX usb should go to TX battery and vice versa.

I spent a day on and off trying to get my original US2000 to respond to the activation code with my skookum 232 adaptor that I used to troubleshoot serial devices that aren't quite compliant.

Bought the £50 thing and it worked first time.

Think that's the wrong way RX usb should go to TX battery and vice versa.

I may have described it incorrectly. Pin 3 from RJ45 is TX and goes to female RS232 pin 2.

I had;

RJ45 pin 3 to serial pin 2 either (pink or red)
RJ45 pin6 to serial pin 3 either (red or pink)
RJ45 pin 8 to serial pin 5 (Yellow)

I'll switch them around and see if it helps. What do you mean by the driver?

I'm now not so miffed I bought the expensive cable with the foolproof guide.
