Especially for Nowty, who is bound to have a smidgen of joy dampened by the software screw up.
Recently the wife had an "apparantly" automatic upgrade to phone to car operations, it went ok, but so called improvements actually look worse & require more scrolling to find & access compared to previous incarnation.
As she hadn't had connection problems I upgraded on saturday, nthing but problems ever since, this mornings early start required physically going out to the car to pre-warm for my wife & daughter to leave for work & school (6.45am) ..the app had been hanging since around 4 am, a constant since upgrade, with the constant necessity to flick aeroplane mode on & off frequently to get basic workability.
Its been somewhat crap.
If you haven't upgraded phone software yet DON'T ..needs tweaking badly.
(NB both running android phones)
It's so bad you may as well fashion a key from whittling wood, it's about as much use as the phone app currently, lock / unlock failing, checking charge rate failing & interrupting... P.O.S. (compared to previous incarnation)
Stay with the old graphic.

Re: Tesla PHONE APP balls up (do not upgrade)
UPDATE (& customer experience)
Got on the phone, immediately picked up & clear info given back to me.
Car requires a metaphorical slap with a hammer (a reset with the USB out, ..which he apologised for, genuinely) like that is a hardship.
Car will need to be on the drive / time given out in wifes work day (so best at home) & hard reboot (in essence) to slap the phone connection around a bit & hopefully align things better.
Great CS, logged detail so that whoever answers the phone later today can see & instigate remedial action without faff.
very reassuring & amicable, believable staff (as experienced).
Well done with the human interface Tesla. 10/10

Re: Tesla PHONE APP balls up (upgrade may need a car re-set)
I'm on iPhone and the new phone app works just fine - although I did have 1 day when the phone decided it wasn't happy being a Bluetooth device and the car didn't recognize it anymore, but a re-boot of the phone solved that so think that was an iOS issue.
My car updated its own software to 2021.32.10 at the weekend and again all seems well with that. I tend to do a full re-boot of the car when it does a software update just in case.
I agree with you though that my experience of Tesla's after-sales support has been excellent the two times I've needed it so far - once to repair the paint flaws flagged on delivery, and once to repair the front bumper after I hit a bird a few weeks ago, when they also did an inspection check. Had a Model X as a loaner for that second service visit - what a machine!

Re: Tesla PHONE APP balls up (upgrade may need a car re-set)
Dan, when you have CS on the phone as good as that, a problem can actually be a pleasure (the insight it gives)
Wife is getting a work I-phone *imminently* (5 weeks & counting on the IT guy's desk) which she may as well tune the car to as a back up to her android
I asked this previously, but no answer to date, ..perhaps you know if there's anything that can log her miles / routes & whatever to save time doing mileage claims for work? there must be a lot of folk who've made the switch to EV partly on work miles basis & the connectivity functionality to log "work runs" with all the available data the car possesses would be damned handy.
She hit the 9000 miles mark this morning (since march)
Really must comment & commend the washer fluid design, it's miserly in use but very efficient delivery is astounding, (the little details) whilst we haven't got to winter "grot" yet, the other car Skoda Yeti reservoir was needing filling every 2 days ..I got so used to saving the old early morning tap water for screenwash i've got about 60 litres bottled up

Re: Tesla PHONE APP balls up (upgrade may need a car re-set)
There are a couple of 3rd party apps that you could use to automatically track/log/record trips/charging info/consumption.
I used Teslastics when I first got the car for exactly that reason but then COVID struck and it didn't seem worth the subscription.
I think you can still try it for free for a month -
https://teslastics.com/#/home
There's also a similar App called TeslaFi which does a similar thing.
What you might want to consider is whether you're happy to give your Tesla API key to a 3rd party who essentially then have access to a lot of your personal data.

Re: Tesla PHONE APP balls up (upgrade may need a car re-set)
Yeah, I hate data intrusion which is why i've not used the 1st of those mentioned, as the second is not dissimilar.
This is where tesla need to do a simple "work trip" voice function log a compilation to be utilised on a periodic basis.

Re: Tesla PHONE APP balls up (upgrade may need a car re-set)
Problems remain.
Cannot now see the charging infrastructure from my phone, why? well, not disrupting wifes driving either remotely or in car by faffing with the screen from the passenger seat.
The old apps charger location & "in use / free" is handy for planning & live updates especially as more cars are sold & more frequently used charger locations.
Tried to access our tesla account, the email details have gone since the new app upgrade, had to interrupt the wife (who dashed to another of her
company offices) to get the login email (modern life, you likely have a handful each too) not enough characters on the subsequent "contact us" form after the drop down list.
Why would folk not want to see the nearest superchargers status on your phone whilst doing other stuff anyway? it is convenient & relevant to ownership.
Hold times on the tesla lines are 50+ minutes currently (1.30pm Mon) ..flooded phonelines wanting EV's y'think?
