Thanks for the reply & thoughts dan.

Dating back 18 months & more recently, the Tesla supplied USB has been deemed "fully functional" . .as has the tesla software running as standard, no 3rd party plug ins.

Plenty of "missing" recordings in that time ..missing, not logged, unviewable at both local (car level) & from tesla purportedly deep diving both remotely and at service centre (mk) ..so not even registering as corrupt files.

Have you tried, variously
different USB stick
plugged into a different USB port?

We were ready to bin the usb back in summer 2021, but that was an early tesla assurance of everything was working to spec / plan ...as intended.

But latterly thought given the problems ongoing they'd say "ah but you are using a non specified usb" ..because too date they have "wriggled" rather than take the car & pull it apart, nor even looked at the damage, ..clearly we are imagining it all dan,

Rare problems are insightful if brands care to look properly, reminds us of the time Volvo specialist enginerr from head office couldnt fix the wifes car, but our local agricultural garage diagnosed it within seconds & fixed it within a couple of hours..

But thats also why the local bmw dealer used to get their cars fixed there too, open minded, exploratiive, more than one brand through the door.

Wifes heart hospital used to be blinded by its own "specialism" ignoring & missing routine problems (& a broken neck) because it allowed itself to be blinkered ..precisely why it needed widely practised nurses to pull them out of the mire before it became a costly public liability affecting funding & "performance" ratings

By that are you inferring a usb put elsewhere within the car "should" be recognised and sentrycam related recordings routed to it?

No, based on the assumption that it is a dedicated slot (daft on my part maybe) but also for safety (ho ho) of it being locked away.

..but now I'm tempted.

Try it and see.
I know mine is an earlier model so has the two USBs underneath the main centre console - but either one of those works for dashcam, and likewise the other USB stick I have for all my MP3s.

The logic is there, as is the history from other Tesla's.
Will cock a snook & see.
Thanks dan, fingers crossed.

And, The model 3 has been in since yesterday, getting them to look further than o.t. air / beyond the software plug in in-shop has been a J-effin nightmare of twats insistence of no fault, perfect functionality, you're driving a super computer etc.

Walked in the door Northampton Tesla 8.45 am (nice big place) & the girl said "phone staff are twats" ...so we were off to a good start.

Got the loaner, so tentatively tried out autopilot beta yesterday.

& this morning they rang to say "YES, THERE IS A FAULT THAT STOPS THE CAR RECORDING" ...Yes, we knew 18+ months ago.
Wife took the call so not much info currently, suffice to say it involves a cooling fault that sends the "super computer" into non recording loops because, ...too hot!

Loan car was easy to find in an mk car-park, because the registration ends in F.U.T.esla ..which is precisely how we feel.

Still don't want the car, will research take back rules on faulty goods from new.

Advice: Do not deal with egotistical crap phone staff whatsoever! ...avoid avoid, avoid! ..eternal loop of incompetence, lies, & misery with f.all action, & your service appt cancelled (stupid woman) because she wouldnt acknowledge the problem exists, ..which it clearly does!

Update.

Car has been in for a full week now.
Thom(as) at Northampton Tesla has delivered us detail & assistance in a timely manner along the way rather than us simply being dumped by phone service & tesla MK service centre

"a unique, as yet unknown anomaly" ..making us think outside the box"

As we said all along, "unique anomalies necessitate looking deeper" ..finally.

Spares ordered from holland or germany to resolve cooling & computer problem which for operations was shutting things down & creating a non recording loop effect, ...god knows the full potential of this, howrver it needs answering as to why it happens in november, an underground carpark when the car hadnt been driven since the day before, or the assault on our driveway... etc.

& I stress, getting tesla to do more than plug in diagnostics / over air has been a frigging nightmare, put us in god knows how many potential predicaments in terms of actually recording & presumably other functions limited by association.

To say tesla uk have winged it is an understatement in terms of taking all reports till now seriously, sheer bloody persistence is the only reason we are at this stage, on a scale of 1 to 5 !? "Shucking Fit"

Where do we take our concerns for a proper investigation, because we cannot trust tesla to sort themselves in a timely manner.
Still a long way to go, ..but, we don't want the car back, safety concerns, experience, stress & hours getting to here & now!

Next is repairs, elsewhere, to 3 places of damage failed to record, no actual end in sight as far as we are concerned thats for tesla to resolve, based on sending us elsewhere having cancelled previously

Offer still stands.

Considering the age of the vehicle and repair status it has now been reduced to £8,650.

What other brand do you think would give you better service? As the vehicles get more complex there will be less people and insensitive to know what's going on with them.
