Silent Running, one of my fave films of all time but I only found out a few years ago that paraplegic actors were used as the robots.

Mine too, I've always been a "feelthy-hippy" ..cheesey film but lovely, had a hell of a time getting it on dvd when dvd was new tech, very slow to release / find.

Love those robots, feel the pain when damaged in the space kart madness segment.

One of my favourites too, Nowty.

I too was surprised (? Why) that amputees were used to ‘man’ the drones (Mark Persons as Drone 1 (Dewey),
Cheryl Sparks and Steven Brown as Drone 2 (Huey), and Larry Whisenhunt as Drone 3 (Louie) )

I still think the loss of Louie when they were outside Valley Forge is one of the saddest cinematic moments.

Gets me every time.

Look at his hands, either a terible reaction to midge bites or he is giving her a "ham-d" or two, the marketing team are butchers of photoshop. it could be subliminal advertising I suppose.
