UK Wind Record
Re: UK Wind Record
We will see when more detail is released, hopefully it's within the companies own competently executed marketing proof-reading...now its on the news radar.

Re: UK Wind Record
"capacity of approximately 500 megawatts (MW) and 2 hour duration to produce approximately 1 GWh of electricity". 500 1MW units, invs serving 4 units. Seems like a strange config. Essentially its made from the 280Ah LFP cells we know and love.
This is pretty massive, they must be confident that they aren't going to close the double energy money printer loophole.

Re: UK Wind Record
It's great to keep hearing about all these huge battery storage facilities around the World, especially when some are in the UK. Like the planned 800MW/1,600MWh scheme in Scotland, and the 1.4GWh project in Australia. Similar schemes again around the US.Mr Gus wrote: ↑Wed Jan 11, 2023 8:37 pm https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-l ... e-64226854

Hoping they will utilise that space for a decent amount of GSHP for the site, wasted opportunity if not, shipping containers get hot as hell without batteries in them as is.
500 megawatts combined battery capacity.
Can it not be under a solar canopy though? (please)
Presumably there is a glut of nearby w/t's ?
With a bit of luck and a tailwind, Tesla may get their Lathrop facility producing Megapacks up to the 40GWh run rate target by the end of this year. They are already sold out till Q3 2024.

I take them with a punch of salt since even moss landing hasn't got all packs online again after the fire.Mart wrote: ↑Thu Jan 12, 2023 8:40 amIt's great to keep hearing about all these huge battery storage facilities around the World, especially when some are in the UK. Is there a data graph I can steal that shows wind curtailment/availability yesterday?
for yesterday look at post 12 on https://www.speakev.com/threads/watts-h ... on.174712/
Re: UK Wind Record
UK wind is at 20.6GW. It appears to have reached this level or thereabouts on 11 days in a row, which might be another record.

I can't see the post 12 page, but the other link is bloody complicated! See 1 little bit of it in the attachment:Ken wrote: ↑Thu Jan 12, 2023 10:07 amhttps://enact.lcp.energy/dan_b wrote: ↑Wed Jan 11, 2023 3:47 pm Help! Re: UK Wind Record
Gridwatch is showing 58.25% of UK demand is from WT's # 07.20hrs.
14.56GW WT
Demand is 25.16GW
It does make me wonder how close to 100% of demand the WT's have been through the last dozen nights. Has anyone been watching that figure?

Re: UK Wind Record
Suppose there’s always going to be the circa 5GW of nuclear that will prevent it reaching 100%. Would be nice to have a figure relating to WT potential, ie, without curtailment.
Re: UK Wind Record
Knowing it will never as you say hit 100% but there are a lot of hours of darkness. I like the idea of it just churning away in low demand hours maxing it out while the majority of us sleep.Bugtownboy wrote: ↑Sun Jan 15, 2023 7:50 amSuppose there’s always going to be the circa 5GW of nuclear that will prevent it reaching 100%.
