Absolutely - I think the success of wind generation needs to be appreciated far more than, I think, the general public currently do.

It’s too easy for the negative bores to trot out the ‘what happens when the wind don’t blow’ line.

Not sure where we’d have been over the last 12 months without wind generation. Just need a way of harnessing that potential production.

The figure in this article states 26.8% of power demand in UK was served by WT's in 2022 An actual TWh figure which that equates too would be nice too.

SW's post on nodal costing and internal interconnects just shows there is a way to go. I won't comment on the nimby statement for the SE as I don't think much of the area already so its not a surprise to me. That's a generalised low grade xenophobia BTW with no real toxicity meant.

An example of toxicity would be last night in the pub and heard 'oh they can all go back then' regarding a racial group.

I'm not sure where the sense of entitlement and vocal public arseholery comes from. 🤔

It's a shame, I often wonder if it's been a centuries long localised breeding cycle that didn't really work out (best to leave your cousin alone). Or maybe its just the remains of the Roman then Norman blood combined with whatever...

Anyway, plenty more cables and low cost storage needed along with plenty more WT's.

Google says 334.2TWh power used in the UK in 21 up 1.2% from 20. Apply that to 22's figure is 338.21TWh.

At 26.8% power required supplied by WT's that is 90.64 TWh from wind turbines in 2022.

Sorry, can't help myself, so that 90.64 TWh generation is

90,640,000 Mwh

Which is

90,640,000,000 kWh. I think that's over 90.6 Biillion kWh's of wind generation. Now there's a figure to be proud of

A mighty impressive figure.

Or, putting it in the newspapers preferred currency, enough electricity to power our house for 65 million years.

Obviously, this would change if we swapped to a BEV and HP

So flipping it into reverse would keep you & swmbo warm and cosy as you went backwards through time to see the dinosaurs 🦕. Quite quickly due to upcoming events then nip back upstream when the sky brightens. Question is, would there be a Delorean in the garage? Right, I'll stop now, damn good coffee here!

Just thinking, and I know a knowledgable person will know, how many TW did that de Lorean need ;)

(Edit - Mr Google says 1.21GW. At that usage, I could use it to commute  )

Is there a data graph I can steal that shows wind curtailment/availability yesterday?
https://enact.lcp.energy/

for yesterday look at post 12 on https://www.speakev.com/threads/watts-h ... on.174712/
I can't see the post 12 page, but the other link is bloody complicated! See 1 little bit of it in the attachment:

Sorry for being brief there.
Cant say i fully understand it. It is basically showing what adjustments and costs the Grid is having to do at short notice to keep the grid in balance.
In the bottom box 2nd from the right you see the amount of curtailment that has taken place which i guess is either the start of the period or the last 24hrs. You can also see the cost of these actions. No idea how you get historical data but for the day you wanted it was 13.7GWh but that is out of a total production c 400 GWh
