The Daly BMS has a temperature probe which I have "buried" between a couple of cells. Last night the temperature got down to -3 deg C and the stack is sitting at 6 deg C with nothing connected, the Pylon stack, which was charging overnight, only dropped to 10 deg C. Neither have any insulation. So not overly worried, if they are like the Pylontech ones "in use" the temperature doesn't move much.

The "C" level is so ridiculously low for these huuuuuge battery packs that measuring the temperature is largely irrelevant.

An EV that charges/discharges at 100kW or more is a whole other KoF.

Except for measuring for below zero temps if your batteries are in an area at risk to very low temps.

Spot on Nowty. I don't think there is any concern about temperature rise due to high rate discharge or charging. The issue is low temperature charging. I am in the soft south "desert" where temps usually only dip below zero over night when the batteries are usually charging so not an issue for me. BUT up t'north it may become an issue if the batteries are in an uninsulated outbuilding.

9 degs is as low as I have seen displayed on my bms software and that's with minus 12 outside

Not bothered about the cells but pylontechs do terminal temp measurements which seems sensible (the amphenol panel mounts have a dimple for it too).

This is by design the 4 AWG chosen by pylon has a 105C (not the more usual 60C) rating and thus suitable for 125A from a US3000C and the like (a pretty typical setup would be 2 units with 74A to make a source).
