I get concerned with non spring battery compartment solar lights, because, shortcuts by chinese production "if in doubt send it out" bad solder to battery "practise" & the atypical numpties who fail to understand "charging, winter sun, direction, shading" etc ..see many amazon reviews as your starterfor ten points.

& at least with a springload batt you canremove & charge, esp if a vaper / battery nerk. & have it ready full powrr sample output in a few short hours.
& upgrade the battery of course / replace it over time.

I only looked at the rear of the unit once you mentioned the alu fins. It is all in all a very well put together sleek wee unit.

Continuing the 'small things matter' theme. In the 4pm to 6pm window today and wishedtohave some light for a shower. Didn't want to toughgrid and was lamenting my 5V usb lights being in Turkey....

Then.i remembered Mr Gus's led usb lights! Absolutely brilliant, lit the bathroom up wonderfully off of a powerbank.





This same powerbank has been charging off of the BigBlue 28W internally mounted folding solar panel. It retains 68% charge and my phone hasn't touched the grid in a week.

Next clear day I'll try the panel outdoors and see if I can see the difference with no double glazing acting as a filter.

Edit- SWMBO's just plugged in at.powerbank with 40% charge on her phone. All Hail BigBlue the apocalypse panel.

Check this out, SWMBO clocked the floodlight potential of the usb lights. A bit of string, a few elastic bands, et voilà. Floodlit lounge!

Yeah, they're an excellent combination I've given out most of the usb lights to family. Even down to this size they're excellent combinations. Thanks again for the direction Gus.



As to the starter batteries in new builds, absolutely.
