Tesla Master Plan Part 3

#1

Post by dan_b »

Whether you like Elon Musk or not, I think this is worth a read - Tesla laying out a vision of what's required to decarbonise transport and heat.
Reckon we all ought to go through it and chew over the details - I'm sure there's some good stuff, and some not so good stuff, in here.

As well as 3 new Tesla vehicles (compact, Van, Bus), it suggests that Tesla might be going into domestic and industrial heat pump manufacturing?

I see Scotland gets a mention on page 16:
"For context, curtailment already exists in markets with high renewable energy penetration. In 2020, 19% of the wind
generation in Scotland was curtailed"
3.87kWp PV
10.24kWp PV SolarEdge system
Tesla Powerwall 2
100 x 47mm Navitron tubes (still being installed!) Now likely to be removed for more PV.
MK2 PV router DHW diverter
Morso 5kW WBS
Vaillant AroTherm 10kW ASHP
Nissan Leaf

I have not read it yet, but I like the headline,
Image

The masterplan suggests 8x storage to renewable power.
From that I think of my own renewable generation and storage.

So if I include my solar and Ripple including project 3, I need 176kWh of storage.

If I add up all my storage I have 195kWh.

Job done.
18.7kW PV > 109MWh generated
Ripple 6.6kW Wind + 4.5kW PV > 27MWh generated
6 Other RE Coop's
105kWh EV storage
60kWh Home battery storage
40kWh Thermal storage
GSHP + A2A HP's
Rain water use > 520 m3

Have just noticed there is no mention of the Roadster in theirs future model outline.
Not that it’s a vehicle if any significance from a global emissions point of view, it was meant to be that halo “smack down on ICE performance vehicles” device for the super wealthy?
